Roxy Music
You should own this album. You know you should.

1. YES I SHOULD! I love the Roxy Music!
Some of my favorites are "All I Want" and "Cassanova" from "Country Life."

6. The compilation has the tracks in REVERSE chronological order
And then Rhino did the same thing with the 2-CD Genesis set last year.

11. From allmusic.com:
"There are really two editions of Roxy Music, the glam rock unit that achieved widespread U.K. success from 1972 to 1975, and the more polished one that was a broader international success from 1979 to 1982. The compilers have dealt with the dichotomy and the more lasting popularity of the later recordings by presenting the compilation in reverse chronological order, so that soft rock hits like "Over You" and "Dance Away," which scored in America, come before U.K.-only hits like "Street Life" and "Virginia Plain," which rock much harder."

With Genesis, of course, by doing that, the really long, turgid art pieces from the early 70s end the CDs.

2.  No thanks
I already have everything on it.
I hope the come to the US on tour this summer. Eno is supposedly joining back up with them. He performed on Manzanera's latest album.

4. Have your heard Another Day on Earth?
His latest. One of the cleanest recording I have ever heard.

7. Thanks. No, I haven't.
It's great to hear he is still making music. I liked his song he did with David Bowie, "I'm Afraid of Americans"

10. Back in 1975....
I took my Roxy Music album into the humanities class....

Everyone else was bringing in real pop shit...

For your pleasure....

The side with Bogus Man......

Right after a girl played her favorite album, the best of Al Green....

A stunning contrast....

Cool that both kinds of music were listened to by everyone...

13. Yeah, remember when AM radio, for all its shortcomings, played
Frank Sinatra or Andy Williams, then Al Green or Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, and then Roxy Music or Bob Dylan.

15. No, you should own everything of theirs up until "Manifesto."
Then buy "Avalon" used somewhere and call it done. Everything the original Roxy did was essential, especially "Mother of Pearl," "She Sells," and "Virginia Plain."
