2. Don't fight the insomnia
Makes it worse. Maybe you can read for a little bit, or watch something not too exciting on TV. I do that, and usually within half an hour, I can go to sleep.

4. sing yourself to sleep
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 02:12 AM by twenty4blackbirds
a lullaby or something with a regular cadence.
edit: it helps if you have a good bed or something that supports your head-neck-back while sleeping.

11. Good times, good times!
Hope you're not a FReeper blackbird! You seem very nice!

Icteridae are the new world blackbirds, such as Red-Winged Blackbirds and Grackles, and the Turdidae are the old world blackbirds that are basically like black robins.

14. in my imagination
I've always pictured my namesakes to be thrush-sized and black all over. Although in likelihood it'd be more crow-like. But how would it all fit in a pie-dish? Those crazy old-time cooks...

8. I'm having that problem too.
I tend to think that computers and tv is probably the worst thing to do because of the funky lights involved. I think reading is supposed to be good, maybe some stretching.

I have to be up same time as you, and that just sucks. I have to drive to work, too. :(

12. Turn off the TV, shut down the computer
wash your face, brush your teeth, do some stretching all the while thinking about what it will be like to get in bed, maybe dream. Pick up a book, cozy in, read and you'll be asleep in 10-20 minutes.

The whole point is you need to give your brainwaves a chance to change from inout to downtime.

Now....don't respond here except in your head. Go do your nighttime routine, and snuggle in.

Nighty-night!

13. A couple of Tylenol PM's work for me.....
...but, since you're going to have to get up early, I'd skip that, since you may not want to wake up if you did them this late.

17.  Would light exercise help or would that just keep you awake?
Sometimes light exercise works wonders for a good night sleep. I also stopped all caffine after seven p.m.
