I have decided to up my alcohol intake.
Being sober around my FIL is just not working for me. If he tells me one more time what a great Armenian cook his girlfriend is, or how great my son's tutor is, or any other of his stories that I have heard ad infinitium, I will go completely bat shit insane.

4. He drinks two glasses of red wine a night.
He is the king of moderation. And, he is one cheap bastard. My daughter asked for me to put money on her debit card so she could out to eat with her friends. He says 'how much does she need'. I say, 'probably 10 dollars or so'. Snaps the wallet closed and says 'too much'.

The very next day, we go to my favorite Japanese restaurant and he orders the $30 lobster and steak and two rum and cokes.

19. Since when is Dewars a "nice scotch"?
Go for the Chivas Regal. Or just balls-out and buy some single malt, like Cragganmore, Oban or McCallan. The difference is night and day.

8. I think that is a fine idea!
You could just tell people that you're "in training" for St. Patrick's Day.

I actually did that one year. Started drinking a little bit everyday beginning on Jan. 1. By March 17th, I could drink anyone under the table. Good times.......good times....

14. Avoid the cheap store-brand Tequilas tho...
Go for the stuff they keep under the bar for themselves.
