Art or cR@p?
For the first time in our whole marriage, we're buying a little eye candy for the walls. It went fine for the first three pieces. Then, I wanted these.

Doug says these guys look like balloon animals and won't let me take them out of the box. Actually, he said, "What IS that? It looks like balloon animinals."

"It's dancers."

"Okay, it looks like dancers with balloon animals up their butts."

Whaddya think?

67. Saw a great promo piece on him
the phillies were running profiles of players -- paid advertising, I guess. Howard was trying to act all street, keepin it real. Then they show where he grew up -- this giant McMansion-looking-thing on a huge hill somewhere in the Midwest -- "just imagine - my brother and I had to mow that!". Completely blew all his street cred. His parents were really cute - both professor-types who seemed genuinely perplexed as to where their son got his mad baseball skills. And his suburban public high school baseball coach, who was happy as pie that God had dropped someone like Howard onto his team.

The profiles said something like "first in a series of profiles that we'll be running periodically..." but never caught any more of them.

to how I paint at times, so it's not an issue of style.

They just seem to me to be heavy-handed; they don't quite grab the sense of motion. And I'm not keen on the colors. I look at them, and I can tell they are dancers, but they seem to be dancers who have lined their clothing with lead sheets.

I want more flow, more joy, more openness, less brushwork, and lighter brushwork.
