I was checking out a thread in The Lounge asking what the "the worst job you've ever had?" I was shocked at the things people thought were bad yet I wouldn't bat an eyelash at. When my daughter and I were hungry I would have done almost anything but drew the line at selling myself. But it's now happening against our will. YES we are being taken advantage of. It sucks, so what are the people going to do about it?

Stop complaining and get these awful Republicans out of office.

A. "Be lucky you have a job."

D. "Be lucky you don't have to go to your $5.25-an-hour manual labor job with <disease> or get fired."

People vent here. It's what the Lounge is for. Lighten up.

8. Why are some here so condescending toward others

Why do we have to ever even bother to answer any of those four responses from people whose sole purpose is to belittle others here.

I really wonder why we just can't have a conversation without some jackoff telling me I should be thankful for anything not knowing who I am or what my day is like.

4. No offense, but you don't know me well enough to say that

I've been poor. I've been hungry. I've been pregnant and homeless. I've been through a lot of shit that I'm not going to share with the Lounge, thank you very much. But that doesn't mean that I didn't work a job once that I didn't much care for. Did a good job at it, I always do. Was thankful for the paycheck, always am.

But don't call me "elite" and don't accuse me of doing nothing to change the world because you don't have any idea what I do. I can complain about a job I held when I was 16 and still work to get the Repukes out of office.

And yes, from reading this thread, I do think I'm glad for people who think that killing animals or lying to someone else for profit is bad. And I honor the effort they made to get out of it.

When I say it's happening against OUR will, I mean collectively. As a human race. We are being used and abused here in the USA just as we have done to others.

No I wasn't "lucky" either. I've been through child abuse both physical and emotional, rape in my teen years, physical abuse from my ex-husband and become a mother at just-turned-19. These things DID happen against my wishes.

And BTW- You don't strike me as an elitist either. :-)

I made the comment about CNA's because I've been one before (and wouldn't be surprised if I were one again). The amount of work and stress- both physical and emotional-compared to the pay received makes it an awful job.
BTW-I've worked in a slaughterhouse too. CNA was still more stress and a lot less pay.

from places outside New England genuinely do not understand the concept of "hard times," (unless maybe they're from West Virginia of some place like that).

So it's not fair to judge them harshly, because they simply do not know.
