What's up with Whataburger...
.... now all their stores have a sign on the window:

  One Nation

UNDER GOD
  Indivisible

It looks like they've decided to take sides in the "culture war". I guess I'll stop eating there. Or am I overreacting? I do love me a WhataCatch :)

1. Doesnt matter to me, because we have NO Whataburgers, or
Sonics, or In-N-Outs, or Carl's Jr, or even so much as a HARDEE'S here in New England.

I think this is the only area in the country that does not have even ONE regional burger chain.

Gotta love a fast food shop that has Lobster Rolls.

4. Not the same thing. No burgers. And I'm allergic to shellfish,
so the Lobster Roll doesn't get it for me.

13. Subway. That's pretty damn close. And it started in Connecticut.
That's about as close as it gets.

Huh...

15. Subway is like not eating. I can eat a subway sandwich...
and be hungry again in five minutes.

16. So true....
It's like invisible food. I have to pile that thing up with all sorts of crap just to fill me up, and it usually doesn't take much.

5. Funny story.
My cousin's husband was a manager of a Whataburger years ago. I did him a favor and he gave me a stack of about 60 "Have a free Whataburger" coupons.

I went every day to the same store and got a free one for about two weeks, waiting for them to get pissed or question what was going on. They never did.

I guess this story isn't funny, after all.

never tried the whatacatch, though ... for some reason (not sure exactly why) it doesn't surprise me that they would take this stance ...

12. Weren't they one of the places that was criticized by
the RW for not saying "Merry Christmas?" Maybe they're just trying to pacify the religious right. And Whatacatch is the only fast food fish fillet (how's that for alliteration?) that isn't square.

18. I noticed that a while back
At least at the ones around here, they've been posting that in the window for several years. I think they may have actually started doing that in response to September 11th and not due to the controversial court ruling, but my timeline could be off. I always thought it was kind of a goofy thing to display. 'Cause when you really think about it, what does Whataburger have to do with a contested portion of the Pledge of Allegiance? And what is supposed to be the purpose of posting that little segment of the Pledge on the wall of a fast food joint?

Oh well, they're Texas-owned, so it's probably to be expected...
