3. I gotta say, though, Johnny Cash owns HURT for the ages
But Trent Reznor is one of the best songwriters in the business. Just don't go looking to him for "happy fun bubblegum" music.

32. The best live version is a Reznor/Bowie duet...
from circa '95-'96 (Bowie's "Outside" tour, when NIN was the opening act). Better than the NIN album version, and maybe as good as Cash's cover.

40. You're not kidding
I say that's the "Hurt" for the ages. Wasn't a big Bowie fan before the tour, but that song made me a believer.

14. Ah, NIN is one of my favorite bands...
That I will never get to see live! I swear that I'm doomed to never see Nine Inch Nails live. Last time they were here (October), they were playing on a weekend I was out of town. Before that, the last show was sold out. Now on the current tour, they're playing nowhere near Los Angeles. I'd have to fly somewhere to see them live. :grr:

35. It would have to be Downward Spiral
but I thought With Teeth was great!!

My favorite song though is a remake NIN did of Queen's "Get Down, Make Love". It was definately way better and much cooler/rawer than Queen's version!

He gave up alcohol and drugs for a Bowflex.
But he's still hot and has gotten more political since rehab.

29. He even has a link to Chomsky on his site.
In the past he did interviews where he said that he was apathetic. He just didn't care. Rehab seems to have given him time to think and now he's become extremely political and special interest driven.

Plus, he's still hot at 40!

And 40 is nothing nowadays. Then again, I'm 31 so I'm looking at 40 in a few years.
But I still miss his hair and the whole shirtless bondage bit. That was really hot.

36. I have a friend who met him years ago.
She's 5'8 and says that he was shorter than her. But she said that-nevermind. Just the way she felt being in the same room as him and the way she described it would lock this thread! Supposedly very sexy in person.

26. Saw him in Houston in October
4th time I'd seen NIN live, and the first for the s.o., who was suitably blown away (in more ways than one).

A must for everyone who 1) hasn't seen NIN live yet, and/or 2) would like to see an *extremely* tight and talented band wreak havoc on a crowd.

30. Did you know ....
right before it was torn down, Trent rented the house where Sharon Tate was murdered?

He even recorded some music there. He made a comment that "I don't think Sharon likes my music" .... because they kept blowing fuses and losing power.

I could not imagine living in that house. It was a beautiful place .... but tooooo creepy considering what happened there.

37. There's this big story about how Tori Amos
went over there and tried to bake a chicken for him. Supposedly after several hours the chicken was still raw and bloody. They took it as a sign to get the fuck out of that house.

Read it in one of his interviews a long time ago.

41. That is so freaky ...
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 03:08 AM by ronnykmarshall
I hate to admit this .... but in 1978 when I was in LA for a Diana Ross concert of all things ..... my brother, my then boyfriend and I drove up to Cielo Drive to the house. (it was my idea) The first time we went up during the day and it spooky for me because I read so much about the murders and stuff. Along the retaining wall someone had spray painted (and it was kind of painted over) "Sharon Tate was a pig". The next night I dared my brother to drive all the way up the hill to the house. When we got to the gate some asshole (not unlike myself for driving up there) had spray painted "Helter Skelter" next to the gate. I almost pissed my pants. We turned around and tired to leave only to be stopped by a security guard that told us to get the fuck out of there.

I'm not suprised that they tore that house down. They have built this horrible massive house on the property that to this day is not complete nor sold. They should have just left the lot empty and let nature take it over.

43. It is freaky.
I think they should have left the lot empty too. Makes more sense. Does anyone really want to live at that address, different house or not?
And Reznor supposedly kept the front door from the house when they tore it down. That's really freaky.

44. That new house won't sell.
No realtor will touch it.

As for the door. He did take it. I don't know what happened to it. I heard it's used as the door to a recording studio.

Too creepy for me. Why would you want something like that?

I can't imagine even sitting in that living room of the old house knowing what happened there. I've seen the crime sceene photos and they are shocking and vile. It was like a battlefield.
