What the hell....Sarah Silverman is NOT funny.
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 03:05 PM by WeRQ4U
She's so boring. I have not seen one thing that would prove to me that she is capable of doing anything worth a damn. She's like those stupid slap bracelets everyone had when I was in Junior High. Everyone knew they were worthless pieces of crap but liked them because it was cool to like them. I can only hope that Silverman goes the way of the slap bracelet.

But he's got a thing for cute little jewish girls!

HQ-fits one of the three adjectives above...

2. To each his own. I thought she was hilarious.
I laughed my ass off during her movie, "Jesus is Magic."

"I think my best feature is my neck....it's about six inches long. Actually, that's not fair because I'm measuring it by the base of my balls."

Sure she's politically incorrect, but her delivery is so bizarre it's unique. Those pregnant pauses really make some people uneasy.

Oh well.

She has been working on this material for years you know.

I think she kicks ass.
She's funnier than "Larry the Cable Guy" at the very least, and for that I salute her.

9. Whoa whoa whoa
don't go setting that bar so high now

:eyes:

Eh-she appears to me to be in the (looks around) Jeanine Garafalo mold. She has a great agent and/or she had money and pot when her age of comics where poor and struggling so everyone feels like they owe her or they only remember her laughing at their jokes through a pot haze.

14. Wow. I don't smoke pot and I busted a gut watching her movie.
The sketches were kinda dumb, but she's a skilled comedian. If only for her rendition of Yes's "I've Seen All Good People," the movie was worth spending 9 bucks on.

I have a feeling that she's disliked around here because she pokes fun at liberal shibboleths, not for any problems with her delivery or her bald language. Just a sneaking suspicion.

5. I saw her act once.
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 03:13 PM by Pithlet
I really expected to like her, because people I knew who always have good taste otherwise told me I "just had to see her, she's hilarious!" I always hear how funny she is. When I saw she was going to appear on a show, I was looking forward to it. Eh. I wasn't impressed. It was just the one time, so she might have just been off, but I haven't gone out of my way to see any of her act again. I hesitate to say it sometimes because there does seem to be a coolness factor involved. I wasn't offended. But I didn't even crack a smile.

6. She's a cute, shrill, annoying, self-absorbed "button pusher."
But other than that, she rocks-slash-sucks. I don't know if such a distinction is possible, but if it is, she has every right to claim it.

:silly:

46. There's that "shrill" word again
Why is it that female comics are always referred to as "shrill". I've yet to hear a male comic described by that word, although I've heard plenty of shrill male comedians.

Care to enlighten me?

51. I didn't intend it in a gender-specific way...
...you could say that Bobcat Goldthwaite, Pauly Shore, "Weird Al" Yankovic and Gibert Gotfried are shrill, too. Silverman instinctively knows "hot button" topics that will offend and / or piss people off, and that's her bulls-eye. That's why I called her shrill.

If you want enlightenment, you've come to the wrong guy. Once I master self-enlightenment, then I'll consider enlightening others.

Maybe.

7. She's cute in a Neve Campbell way, and sometimes funny while
ad-libbing, but in general I don't really find her funny at all. She goes for shock-value in my opinion, and it's weak.

11. I don't mind shock comics when they're just a tad witty.
But I find her comedy lazy. Instead of thinking about something, she just says "Asshole" or "Balls" or "Vagina" instead. That's not funny.

42. Yes, that's it. Lazy
and through laziness comes boring. There's off the cuff crude humor that can be damn right hilarious in conversations but when it's one-sided like a standup talking to a crowd and not with a crowd it just doesn't work the same.

13. I'm still trying to like her.
Sometimes I do, but then she goes somewhere that annoys me and then I don't. Then I forget about the annoyance and try to like her again.
Also, dating Jimmy Kimmel doesn't help, in my book. (I have this theory that she's super funny--funnier than even her biggest fans think, but she's not quite 'there' yet because that energy is spent on secretly writing jokes for Jimmy. Like I said, just a theory born of boredom and imagination so please take it that way if you can.)

He seems uncomfortable interviewing celebrities, probably because he's so tempted to say something incredibly mean and insulting (and funny) to them but can't for the sake of his contract.

Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 03:29 PM by hobo_baggins
shes got no kinda delivery, and her whole gimmick is, look, im a cute girl who says naughty stuff...she just needs to grow up and get some wit, because her act is severly lacking in that department.

I lump her in with that whole unfunny clique with Adam Carolla(who in gods name finds him the least bit funny?), Jimmy Kimmel, and Colin Quinn. How these people stay on air is amazing.

It always seems like she resorts to the lowest common denominator (not "Larry the Cable Guy" LCD). When all else fails, say something racist/taboo. Don't know why, but that angle has never appealed to me.

32. Here's a joke that got her in trouble.
Forgive my horrible rendition:

"I had to go to a job interview but didn't really want the job, so asked my friends what could I say that would jinx the interview. They said "tell 'em you hate chinks." I thought that was a bit over the top, so I changed it to "I love chinks."

Or something like that.

Anyway, funny but rude.

As if she were a model, rather than a (rather untalented) comedian.

I don't need to be aroused when I watch these artists at work, I just want to laugh. And Silverman has yet to inspire this.
