In another incarnation as a much younger version of myself, I used to road race motorcycles.

Nothing like high-siding a bike at 90mph in a decreasing radius off-camber turn and sliding for a few hundred feet. Ouch.

7. I've had a really bad road rash

Received when I went off a horse doing about 30 mph on a hard packed dirt road. As I gracefully soared through the air, I remember thinking, "This is going to hurt," and it did. Tucked and rolled, had a scrape on my right leg from my hip to my knee and I still have a place that's about 6 inches in diameter that is hard and knotty beneath the skin - scar tissue on the muscle itself.

I call it my gamey (pronounced gammy) leg from a Monty Python sketch (the cannibals in the Navy sketch).
