You know whats really, REALLY embarrassing?
Collapsing in public.
At work.
And hospital gowns.

I could REALLY use someone else making a fool of themselves, it'd make me feel better.

8. Okay, I've got one for you
At my father's wedding, I was seated on a stool, wearing high heels with the heels hooked over one of the rails on the stool (you can see where this is going, can't you?). Yup, leaned forward to get my drink and the whole stool went over, I couldn't get my feet out quick enough and went SPLAT! face down on the dance floor in front of all the guest.

Hope you're okay.

19. Yes, it certainly was...
I can't tell you how many calls I took from people who were concerned that I might be fired over that incident.

No, I wasn't fired, though my boss pulled the legs of a couple of longtime listeners.

He actually thought it was funny. If it had been more than a one-time thing, I suspect it would have lost its amusing luster.

21. Eep! Hope you're okay.
My embarrassing moment:

I as at a local show one time, there was no security, since it was a fairly small show, but the venue (an outdoor venue) had a fence to keep a gap between the crowd and the stage. I was already at the front of the crowd, and the singer said for us to jump the fence because the gap was pissing him off. I was the first one over the fence, but I caught my toe on the top of the fence and went face first into the ground in front of everyone, both the crowd and the band. The singer stopped singin and helped me up, but it was pretty embarrassing. Hurt a little too, haha.

while I was standing on a construction site standing atop the cab of a digger, proudly peeing into its bucket.

Actually at the time the drunkenness prevented me from feeling the shame that is due. My contrition only developed afterwards.

When they asked me, "what are you doing?" I replied, "physics."

40. Fibroids can cause a lot of embarrassing incidents
too gross to go into on a mixed board. Just imagine every horrible thing you were afraid might happen to you when you first found out about getting your period, then multiply by 100.

One incident had me holed up in the boonies somewhere at a Holiday Inn bathroom for a few hours while my friend went to buy pants for me at the nearest WalMart.
Another event happened on a crowded train platform at rush hour (fortunately, people pay no attention to the condition of your clothing when they're late for their train).
Plus lots of embarrassment at work, when I'd go home wearing a suit jacket with sweat pants -- I'm lucky that my co-workers are mostly 1) women, many of whom have had fibroids themselves or 2) guys with Aspergers who wouldn't notice if I were wearing a tiger costume and had an arrow through my head.

Hospital gowns ain't nothing compared to hemorrhaging in public. But collapsing at work isn't any fun either. Hope all is okay.

/Got it fixed, no more embarrassing incidents.

54. Done that horrible hemorraging in public thing
Have had to leave work. The worst was on vacation, we had just arrived at Devil's Tower and wouldn't you know......

Have also done the collapsing in public. Forgot to take my Paxil 2 days in a row, also had problems with anemia from the above, felt the intense panic attack coming on, got fuzzy and my ears started buzzing, asked the girl in the store if there was anywhere to sit down and then woke up on the floor to paramedics talking to me.

Kinda scary but more embarassing.

Hope you're ok!

58. Man, Devil's Tower is in the middle of NOWHERE
went through there on our way to Deadwood. I had my surgery scheduled at the time, was on pretty strong hormones to make sure I didn't get my period until then (I was honestly afraid of bleeding to death - it's hard to describe to anyone who hasn't experienced it -- it really IS hemorraging). Could NEVER have traveled in that condition.

The anemia part wasn't fun either.

One word of advice to anyone with fibroids/anemia: don't take a vacation at 8000 feet when you're severely anemic. Spent one of our first nights in the mountains hyperventilating and tachycardic. My SO was scared he was going to lose me - we were debating going to a hospital and getting oxygen. Fortunately after that it was just weakness and shortness of breath.

I assume you've had yours taken care of as well, and are back in the land of the iron-rich!!

60. Am on hormones
but haven't taken the surgical route yet because I haven't totally given up on the idea of kids. It has slacked off a bit with the hormones so it's not as bad as when it was at it's worst. My anemia got so bad, my hemoglobin was down around 6, I had to have a transfusion, two units. My husband said I was "two quarts" low. I just remember that when I would walk from the living room to the bedroom, my heart would beat so fast I thought I would die. I take iron daily and during my cycle take 3 a day. So far, it's under control. But sooner or later, I think I'm gonna have to opt for the surgery.

59. GiC, I should tell you about an embarrassing moment
When I was in grade 9, we went to a taping of "The Great Debate" at CBC.

As it was the first time I had been in a studio, I weaved my way to the front of the line, and sat in the first seat nearest the stairs, in the first aisle.

The topic was "socialism vs capitalism".

I had no idea what either was.

I had no idea that Pierre Berton interviewed audience members beforehand on the debate subject matter.

Guess who's the first to be asked? I can't remember EXACTLY what I said, but it was silly enough that the audience burst out laughing; no doubt something befitting of a grade 9er who had no idea what they were talking about.

Later, in between shooting breaks (there were 2 more episodes being shot), a few from my high school came up to me and snarked on the girl who made a fool of herself at the beginning of the show. (they didn't realize it was me)

There we go...I made an idiot of myself in front for the whole country to see.
