4. A great garlic recipe that even an untalented cook can't hurt
put fresh or bottled garlis in a frypan with olive oil
cook it on low, so that little bubbles are forming, but the oil isn't boiling
cook it just until it's golden - that's the important part - don't over or under cook
season with red pepper flakes
boil up spaghetti (white -- whole wheat is too hearty for this recipe)
drain spaghtetti
pour the olive oil & garlic mix over the spaghetti
enjoy

26. Yes, the flakes are essential.
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 06:45 PM by Gormy Cuss
Aglio=garlic, olio=oil. Some cookbooks list it as aglio & olio, but my Sicilian-American friends never used a preposition when they said it. I had a neighborhood restaurant near my place in Boston that made a superb version. I reeked for days after eating it.

31. Hey, Pard. I bred righteous pedigreed chows my vets....
were proud of and recommended for their obedient and protective attitude for years. I gave a written lifetime written warranty and my handshake on the purchase of every dog.
I never had a dog returned to me because of attitude, hip dysplasia, or eye problems, but I did turn down cash and checks from assholes who did not want to waste their time sitting and listening to me tell them how to raise a Chow properly. My dogs never were plagued with fleas either.

51. Yeah..
... truth is, it's not as bad as you'd think. Most Chinese only use it in dishes like Garlic Chicken or whatever, same for Italian. Or at least they use so little it's not a problem. Indians don't use much of it, nor does Tex-Mex. It's a good thing, because I love spicy ethnic food!!!!!!

I have to be careful with pizza, some chains use quite a bit. Mediteranean is tough, have to really be careful. Can't eat Popeye's spicy chicken, now that does suck :)

39. Was raised by garlic-adverse Irish
My mother used to smell me and say "you've been eating garlic!" as if I had been out smoking dope (which may very well have been the case as well, but that's another story)

I grew to love the stuff, and throw it into almost every entree (except maybe omelettes)

52. try white gazpacho (also known as almond soup).a Spanish
(Andalusian) specialty. WOW

I make a fresh tomato sauce with chopped fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, lots of fresh garlic, cracked black pepper, 2 cups of shredded mozzerella cheese and about a cup of olive oil. Salt to taste, and let sit at room temperature for about 3 or 4 hours.

Cook up some linguine, drain, and pour the fresh tomato sauce all over it and serve immediately. The hot pasta melts the cheese. Crusty bread, good salad, heaven on a plate.

54. If you love garlic try this
2 potatoes boiled w/skin on
1bulb-fresh garlic peeled & cleaned
1/2 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup oil.

puree garlic in food processor or blender
next add soft peel potatoes
then oil & vinegar.

This is delicious and can be served hot with any of your
favorite vegetables.

62. I can't imagine cooking every day without garlic.
Garlic goes into 80% of what I cook. My kids have always eaten garlic and are happy to find coarsely chopped chunks of it in stews or on garlic bread. I don't think any of my ancestors ate it, so it's not genetic!

I've never been able to "smell garlic" on anyone, and no one has ever mentioned me smelling like garlic, either. But maybe everyone I know is exceptionally polite...;-)
