But do keep this in mind. American Revolution II is IN PROGRESS. I have no doubt about that at all. But revolutions do not happen overnight. They happen in fits and starts. They happen up mountains and down in troughs and valleys. Whatever happens, we must not yield to the fascists' main strategy--making us, the members of the great progressive majority in this country, feel like the minority.

Also, I would like to say that when people stand up and fight for their rights, and fight for democracy, there is no such thing as defeat. Even if only one stands up. One shining light obliterates the darkness.

See to the numbers, yes. Count the votes. We have to do that, even in a Diebolded Congress and with a Diebold-selected president. And get on those phones and call Byrd and Landrieu and any others who can be persuaded. But if we lose on the numbers--and they have surely been stacked against us--do not give in to the inevitable temptation to despair, and consequent disempowerment. Mountains and valleys--please remember that. It was not easy for the first American revolutionaries, and it is not going to be easy for us. It did not happen all at once for them, and it is not going to happen all at once for us. Black civil rights and voting rights activists, women voting rights activists, abolitionists, anti-apartheid activists, union organizers--all went through serious ups and downs, on the INEVITABLE progressive march of the human race toward more and more equitable treatment of each other, and toward democracy, freedom and higher consciousness. We are on that journey now, toward restoration of our right to vote, overthrow of this junta, and the creation of a better country. Do not let the leers and sneers and lies of this fascist junta disempower you! Keep the faith!
