What is the last CD you bought?
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 07:07 PM by mvd
I got 3 at the same time in an amazon.com order:

The Faders - Plug In & Play (I found the import for a lower price at cduniverse.com. One of the best of 2005, or any year for that matter - it's that good. I got it too late to put on my 2005 best-of list, but the U.S. release will be on my 2006 list.)

Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat (this is great Patsy Cline-tinged alt-country. And "Handle With Care" is more than a collaboaration - it's an event!

Cat Power - The Greatest (as I said before, this is also terrific. Sounds very real, and not a forced attempt.)

Before that, I got No Will Power by Kat Parsons - loved it, and wish it wasn't so short. Still waiting for my cdbaby.com order from Mandi Perkins.

25. Yes!
SOME HUMANS AIN'T HUMAN

Have you ever noticed
When you're feeling really good
There's always a pigeon
That'll come shit on your hood

Or you're feeling your freedom
And the world's off your back
Some cowboy from Texas
Starts his own war in Iraq

Some humans ain't human
Some people ain't kind
They lie through their teeth
With their head up their behind
You open up their hearts
And here's what you'll find
Some humans ain't human
Some people ain't kind

MORNING TRAIN

I saw you
All dolled up
Singing a song in your pickup truck
You put me on a morning train
You put me on a morning train
Ain't no need to explain
You put me on a morning train

I don't buy CDs anymore really, because of iTunes and iPod... but if I decide that an ENTIRE album is good enough, then I'll have a hard copy on CD.

56. As I said before, great CD!
One of my faves of 2005. Generally soft music, but never boring.

Next, I want to get the new CD from Rosanne Cash. Black Cadillac ranks among her best. Her previous CD, Rules Of Travel, sounds like a routine Rosanne album compared to this one.

Everyone have a good weekend!

53. Golden Smog- Weird Tales
These guys are (were?) a sort of country-folk-rock-ish (I'm avoiding the term "alt-country", even though that's what they're usually called, 'cause I've always found it odd) "supergroup" whose album I decided to check out b/c the members are from several groups I like, including Soul Asylum and the Jayhawks. It's a pretty good album, with a diversity of sounds from song to song due to the alternating lead vocalists and changing instrumentation. This album is from '98 and I'm not sure what these guys have been up to since; this was sort of an impulse purchase.
