Should I go out tonight?
It's been snowing here, so I don't want to drive...cause my car is demon possessed sometimes.

so I'll have to take a cab.

but it's a benefit to help pay medical bills for a guy who passed away.

but I went to one two weeks ago and ending up having to pay eighty bucks to get my demon-possessed car out of the tow lot, which I could have just contributed, if I had money like that to toss.

but the benefit is going to be local musicians doing Tom Waits covers.

and I am a RainDog here...and one of the bands is called the RainDoggies (copycats!)

but it doesn't start until ten p.m., and I was up so early to go to work,

and there's no one I want to go there to see, youknowwhatimean?

but I'm not really that shallow...ahem...at least not *just* that shallow...

but I've been withdrawing more and more because I am soooo bored...

but maybe withdrawing makes you soooo bored.

maybe I should have made this a poll. Can you put a poll in a thread that's already started?

should I stay or should I go?

1. You should go.
Its the weekend and besides that, why stay inside all by yourself?

4. why not?

why not stay inside all by myself?

I know I'll see people I know, and have known for a while, and I won't talk to anyone I don't know, and I know that I'll end up avoiding some people and I know I'm not going home with anyone but myself, and it just seems like too much trouble.

have them take you out and go have a good time and hear the tunes...I'm gonna get out later myself. Have fun and enjoy...if I were there...well...I'd come shake your happy ass out of the house...just to hear that Nashville drawl thingy all night :D

Who knows...maybe there will be a harmonica player there ;-)

10. no doubt there will be harmonica players there
just not one for me... sigh.

the harmonica I used to play won't be there, I know. mostly the reason to go is to hear someone I know do a cover of "Whistle Down the Wind."

instead of listening to Waits covers, though, I'm listening to Elvis Costello tell me to Tear Off My Own Head.

12. I get my kids back tomorrow
in the a.m.-- which is another reason I'm ambivalent about going out, since I want to do stuff with them tomorrow, not sleep because I was up so late.

Yeah, I love that cd too. I misplaced it for MONTHS and since I found it, I've been listening to it waaaay too much.

my favorites are Tear off Your Own Head and 15 Petals and Dust2...

If dust could only talk what would we hear it say?

it's only flesh and bone why don't we leave it alone...

now there's a name for you, but it's stuck in my throat...

...spit out the truth or would rather just swallow a lie?

I believe we just become speck of dust...

3. I am in for the evening
but was on the roads about an hour ago... snow is sticking to the grass, but not the roads. Are we supposed to get any real accumulation? It doesn't look like it will add up to much (but I am so wrong so often on that front... don't take my word for it!)

As for going or not - will the music be good (how are those RainDoggies?)? Will the company be light - or work (as in having forced small talk.)

I am always more likely to do things that start earlier in the evening rather than later (aging is a witch!) and I don't know that I would say I am bored... but sometimes perhaps a tad boring...

Wish I could help you out tonight... but I am getting ready to sit in a cozy room, with a good book, and my ailing puppy. (See what I mean about the boring part...)

8. Well, usually nothing starts around here till ten
..if it's music that isn't in a "kid-friendly" zone.

I know these are people that aren't part of your usual crew.

But they are people I've known for a while...which is why I would go and also why I wouldn't go.

I'm just really bored with life in general, you know?

but I'm much too much of a...I don't know what...to fit in with your very nice and peaceful friends and acquaintances...you know my problems with one such person... and you would probably think my weird acquaintances are...weird.

I just tend to hang out with musicians and writers cause I know that world, and the rebellion that's not about youth, but about place in the world, if that makes sense.

though I can pass as "normal" -- I think? In fact, that's the first mistake people make about me. :)
