Mine is Flavored Instant Cream of Wheat. It came in a variety box with apple cinnamon, maple & brown sugar, plain and another flavor I can't remember. It's the only hot cereal I like. I'm not crazy about oatmeal--blech. It's been more than a couple of years since I've seen flavored Cream of Wheat in the stores. I wonder if they've just stopped making it?

Haven't seen them since the 70s, but they were the best! Way better than any of the plain tortilla chips today.

41. Salsa Doritos!
I swear when I was in Hawaii my diet pretty much consisted of salsa doritos, sashimi, mimosas and coronas. It was wonderful. I also got to snorkel with sea turtles and sharks a few times. Sea turtles rock!

32. Quisp still existed as of a few years ago
My dad was talking about this cereal that he used to eat all the time when he was a kid, so I did a web search and found a place that sold it, (fresh stuff, not vintage boxes). We got a box and I must say it was pretty tasty cereal.

12. I'm glad you asked! CINCH CORNBREAD MIX
This was the greatest conrbread mix ever on the American market. It was substantial and it raised about three inches high. There was a great recipe on the side of the box for jalapeno cornbread, where you added some canned creamed corn, fresh chopped jalapenos, freshly grated cheddar cheese and it was so yummy.

I miss it bad!

72. The family that made Mrs. Howe's
is related to me. Not sure how, altogether, just know they're some of "the Thiensville relatives". My dad told me last summer that they sold the company to one of the big names, can't remember which one. The conglomerate got the factory and whatnot, but is using its name. Sucks, no?

And someone probably got rich, but I'm not close enough to inherit any. I don't think.

110. Thanks AuntAgonist!
I have seen that site before and my father-in-law works as a dairy managaer for a grocery store here in town. He is going to talk to the deli manager about looking into ordering some from one of the distributors. We could become the pickle capital of SE Kansas and Northern Oklahoma. What a coup!

Hell, I'd stand outside with a sandwich board to drum up some business for them just so they'd keep them in stock.

85. I make my own

2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoon flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Good Dash pepper
2 cups frozen peas (use a 10 oz box, or measure 2-cups from a bag of loose frozen peas)
2 or 3 hard boiled eggs sliced

Get out a quart size sauce pan, or bigger. In it, melt the margarine over medium heat. Using a fork or a whisk, stir in the flour until it is smooth and lump free. Now very gradually stir in the milk. I use a whisk for this because it makes the work go faster. When the milk is well combined with the fat and flour, add the sugar, salt and pepper. Cook and stir the sauce until it begins to boil. Count to sixty, stirring it the whole while. Now add the frozen peas. Cover the pan and allow it to simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes over medium heat. The peas should thaw and cook briefly, but not too much. Over cooking is ruin for this dish. It needs the peas to only barely cook, bringing out their freshest flavor. Add the sliced hard cooked eggs and serve over toast.

Delicious!

When I was little I loved the candy bars called "Kudos." (I liked the peanut-butter flavored ones). They were sold in a box like granola bars.

Anyway, after a couple of years, Kudos became chocolate-covered granola bars (and shrunk quite a bit, too).

They still sell them as far as I know, but they altered the product so much that there's no real relation between the old ones and the new ones. The Kudos that I loved are effectively gone forever!

145. Starbuck's Mint Brownies
One of those holiday things they only offer in November & December. Best item in the food case, and they only have it 2 months out of the year. Does Dr. Evil still run that company or what?

148. Flavored Cream of Wheat
Come to think of it, I haven't seen that in a while either. I do see flavored cream of wheat but not in a variety pack. I used to love it too. I like plain cream of wheat with cheddar cheese melted on top for dinner sometimes.

Do they still make TAB? That was my favorite soda growing up, but I haven't seen it in years.

This is probably just a local thing, but none of the groceries where I live carry lamb -- and I love lamb.

156. Chocolate vanilla creme pop-tarts
And raspberry iced tea Snapple. Texas only has certain kinds of Snapple that they carry now, and raspberry iced tea ain't one of them (But peach, which I detest IS).

Whenever I head up north to Illinois and Wisconsin I OD on raspberry iced tea Snapple.
