13. That Atomic Dawg is barking!!!
First time I heard that song I was riding around in a pickup truck full of smoke (don't ask and I will not tell) in boo-foo no-place--with a plastic cup full of cheap red wine. I've been a fan ever since.

I have a funny story about that song and my daughter from a more recent era.

When she was really little I'd play George Clinton in the car. She LOVED "The DOG Song" as she called it. Every time we went anywhere in the car she'd ask to hear it. Kevsand, who is pretty much a Dead-head, would just cringe while Material Girl and I just breezed and funked* away.

It still goes that way, really. I've been into Funk and Soul for years and it is looking like my daughter has picked up a fondness for it now, too. Poor Kev!

Laura

*Have you ever tried to explain to a kid that "Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet snorting some THC" is NOT the usual way that nursery rhyme goes???

2. finally, a music thread for someone I care about!
Clinton gives major props to Sly Stone this morning in the Washington Post as being a huge influence.

Sly is scheduled to perform with the reunitied Family Stone at the Grammys this year.

Top of the Chocolate Milky Way, 500,000 kilowatts of P.Funk-power.
So kick back, dig, while we do it to you in your eardrums.

Make my funk the P.Funk
I want my funk uncut (make mine the P)
Make my funk the P.Funk
I wants to get funked up. (wants to get funked up)
I want the bomb,
I want the P.Funk (yeah)
I want my funk uncut. (make mine the P)
Make my funk the P.Funk
I wants to get funked up.

9. Very sad story
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 09:56 AM by Patiod
Was getting ready for a PFunk concert with Laura, a friend of my SOs - the stage manager for the play he was doing.

I said "I'm so excited! I've been into George Clinton since 1979, and I've never seen him live!"

I looked at the expression on her face.

"You weren't born yet in 1979, were you Laura?"

10. Ain't no party like a P-Funk party...
Cause a P-Funk Party don't stop!

Last time I saw them was on New Year's Eve 2004-05. Lots of booze and a touch of illicit substances. The funk was deep.

Red-hot mama from Louisiana, thumbing her way to Savannah,
she'd been cooped up too long!

"There's nothing harder to stop than an idea whose time has come to pass; Funkadelic is wot time it is!"

12. Damn right I'm a George Clinton fan!
And the lyrics you put up-I had the perfect pic in mind but can't find it. It's the infamous "dance" scene in Slums of Beverly Hills between Natasha Lyonne and Marissa Tomei.

18. I only ask because oftentimes when waving said appendages,
I have inadvertently spilled beer or other valuable liquids.

I just want to insure the safety and comfort of the other patrons. :P

20. But think about this
You're amongst hands in the air wavers like they just don't care. I think it's all relatively moot if you ask me!
