Favorite early memory of childhood...
When I was four years old, my father and I walked to a neighborhhood drugstore to wait for my mom who was getting out of work from a factory later that night (where my dad worked on the day shift). It was cold and snowing and I remember the snow coming down softly under the streetlights where we were walking. The drugstore was warm and inviting and dad bought me a drink at the soda fountain (grape juice) and a bag of chips. I still remember the snow swirling around in circles under the street lights, and the happy feeling I had holding my father's hand, and the excitement of being able to stay up late to see my mom. (1950.)

Dad turned 84 last week, mom passed ten years ago. But I treasure this memory like a piece of gold.

1. Mum woke me up at 4AM to see the Ice Palace (1986)
To this day I remember and silently thank her for doing so.

And all those times, as a child, she'd take me outside for cool air when I had an asthma attack.

You know, all things considered, despite the moments of pure unfettered hell, I miss being a child. Somebody loved me back then.

3. Best lighting scheme of the bunch. Cool, clean, classy, & unpretentious.

Yup; 1986 winter carnival.

Timmy NoTool's was either bright cyan, urine yellow, or hot magenta pink. Somebody was looking at a set of color printer ink cartridges once too often...

7. I was in NYC this summer for a week's vacation and a few people
told us to go to Coney Island but we ran short of time. Is it still magical (in case we return next year) or will it be a disappointment? (I picture it the way I have seen it in old travel documentaries).

9. Definitely still an NYC adventure....
Take the subway, ride the Cyclone, walk the Boardwalk, eat at Nathans! A little rundown, but as of last summer, special memories :) The NY Aquarium is there too, a must see part of the Coney experience. I can't wait to go back.

8. hanging out with my big brother
He died when I was 9, so my memories of him are my fondest.

Dunno what year it was or how old I was, but my absolute fave... he and I only saw eachother at my gramma's, because he was my dads son and my dad passed away so his mom had custody rather then my mom. One time I went out to visit and he was going to go to the park, and I wanted to be with him, so he attached his skateboard to his bike so I wouldn't have to walk all the way. On the way I fell off and scraped my knee, and he carried me back to grammas so he and my gramma could fix my knee up. :loveya:
he was the best :)

10. I am an only child, but I always wished for a brother.
You had yours, even though your time with him was too short.

Thanks for your story. How old was he when he passed?

13. He was 15
I am very lucky to have had him, and a little brother who looks up to me the same way I looked up to my big brother.
Thanks for the . :)

15. I let my four year old grandson sit on my lap and steer the golf cart
through our neighborhood, and he shrieks in fear when we go off the road toward a tree. When I finally grab the steering wheel, he breaks up in laughter. I bet your mom has wonderful memories of these times with you (and hopefully no pain in the butt neighbors were there to call out the local militia!).
