This might be a stupid question (re: Tivo) |
|
I just watched the entire first season of Lost on DVD, but don't want to start watching season two until I've caught up. I would hate to wait until Sept., which is when the Season Two DVD will likely come out. Anyway, we have some friends who have all of this season on their Tivo.
This might be a really dumb question, but is there any way to make a copy of them? Any other suggestions?

1. Yes. Two ways. First, if they have the TiVo machine that I do, it has a |
|
built in burner and you burn the shows right off of it. But, with or without that machine, you can also burn them the following way:
Your computer must have DVD burner. TiVo machine must be connected to home network, either via wireless or network cable. You get software from TiVo called TiVo Desktop/TiVo To Go as a download from TiVo. Use the software to transfer the show files from TiVo machine to PC. You must purchase software called Sonic MyDVD Suite which made some kind of deal with TiVo, they are supposedly the only ones who can burn TiVo files to viewable DVD's.
I've done it, works okay.

2. Here is the link for the Sonic software: |

http://www.sonic.com/products/Consumer/MyDVD/default.aspxIf possible I recommend the PC burning, the TiVo machine burning is easy, but you don't have good options to edit the file, chop stuff out, put in bookmark/chapters, and customize the menu.

It might be a stretch to ask them to do this -- they are more acquaintances than friends -- but I'll check it out.
