Man I love plumbing!
Nothing more fun than workin over your head with molten metal and flames, getting soaked, and needing more parts! Ask me anything, so I don't have to get back to it. Oh, and do ya need anything from the hardware store?

1. What are you fixing?

While you're at the hardware store please pick up about 200 feet of pre-primed wood crown molding.

2. it all started with new fixtures for the tub...
new faucet, handles etc. since the old ones dripped. Turns out they are a different style, and I have to cut the pipes and put in junctions so I can do the new faucet the right way. Better yet, I decided that I should put in valves for the tub lines, since there weren't any, and the project looked too easy. Turns out that the drip has been wicking into the wall, so now I've gotta rip out the shower liner and fix that, along with everything else. Oh yea, and I melted the O-rings on the first valve I did (first timer working on copper pipes, cut me a break :D)

Oh, what color on the primer? :D

3. Plumbing should never be hidden behind the wall.
Every house that I've ever lived in has developed a leak behind the shower or tub at some point. Aargh.
Good luck with the fixes.

I have a plain house with contractor grade base trim (calling it molding would be too generous) and my goal is to install real baseboards and crown molding over the next year. I don't do plumbing or electrical work because I'm too much of a chicken.

4. Thanks!
I'm just the opposite. I can't cut straight to save my life, so I hate woodworking. But I'm pretty fearless on the electrical side (I'm an EE and just rewired a celing light while it was still hot, lol) I'm beginning to think that I should be more fearful of plumbing, but I guess we'll see in the end.

8. too late
maybe tomorrow, I'll probably be out getting a new tub liner, drywall and studs to shore everything up. It's a deal as long as you don't try and give me any of that fake Canadian money

16. Ack!!!
What a crappy day. :(

My next project is replacing the crappy faucet on my bathroom sink. The idiot that I bought this house from put in a NICE Kohler sink, but installed a generic faucet. :dunce: So, I went to the Habitat Re-store and found a Kohler faucet new in the box for $30! :bounce: Tomorrow is clearing the dead branches and plant life. Brush pickup is Monday. :argh:

17. Eh, it comes with having an old house
I should have know better, starting late today thinking I could just pull out the old one and pop in the new. I'm already starting to get used to projects starting out as "let's strip this molding" and ending up as "we're going to have to strip every surface we're going to paint"

I have to put in a cat door to the basement soon, and I'm already afraid of what I'll find :scared:

12. Real men sweat copper!
As a 5 year plus landscaping irrigation system designer/installer/troubleshooter, I always enjoyed it. Nothing like staying soaked to the bone for hours at a time. Nothing like never having dry shoes. Nothing like having to dig a 3' deep pipe trench all by yourself with nothing but a 4" wide trenching shovel.

Ya gotsta love it!
