Note that the actual mattress pad cannot be seen; only the accessories: Assorted blankets, (clean) pillows, book, bowl of uncut strawberries (!!), and content looking chick...

They buy them for their comfort. I think this ad as portrayed is pretty good marketing in portraying to the potential buyer the relaxing qualities of the product.

More I look at the picture, the more it makes me want to relax on a comfortable mattress. I say kudos to Serta! :)
