51. If I remember correctly, these shows aired back to back.
Jack Webb produced both, I think.

I was a total fan of both shows. :D

34. Mom was one of those early recyclers - my bag was always a crappy used one
Oh, the shame of having to drag a huge wrinkled paper sack to school with my name emblazoned in crayon on the side while all the other kids had the nice new crisp store bought bags.

40. I carried some big wrinkled bags too.
My mother wasn't a recycler, just disorganized, so she frequently forgot to buy lunch bags. Since there were 3 kids, sometimes it was a challenge to find 3 used bags, too. I used to try to fold mine into as small a package as possible. Always had one of these 3 lunches: Bologna sandwich, Spam sandwich, Cheese sandwich, all on white bread, wrapped in waxed paper. I made certain that my kids either had lunchboxes or store-bought, appropriate-sized paper bags. And plastic baggies!

36. Same here
with the SAME lunch in it every day. x(

Ham sandwiches with a little mustard, and a small piece of iceberg lettuce, on white. And a Joe Louis, the best part of the lunch.

She did spoil me when I went home for lunch; that's when I had the hot roast beef or chicken sandwiches (with gravy). :bounce:

41. At my elementary school paper sacks were cooler than
lunch boxes. You'd get teased if you brought a lunch box after first grade.

We paid 40 cents for a whole week. So our lunches were only 8 cents a day. And my mom was too cheap to let us buy our lunch!!

28. I also carried money
My mother insisted that we buy our lunch even though our city elementary school lunch wasn't very good due to the fact that it was trucked in.
On the rare occaisions that we had to pack a lunch, like for a school field trip, I used a paper bag.

23. I was such a geek
My first lunch box was a Peanuts (Charlie Brown) one, which got me from 1st through 3rd grade before it fell apart (yes, the metal kind), and then in 3rd grade, in 1976, a funny kind of satirical Bicentennial lunchbox.

And in 5th grade, my last metal one, was a METRIC SYSTEM lunch box. THE METRIC SYSTEM.

It had conversion tables and everything.

The 70's were seriously damaging.

53. I got a new one every year
until Junior High, but I can only recall 2: Peter Pan (1st grade) and Donny Osmond (3rd grade I think).

Anyone remember the metal in the Thermos before they sealed it in? It was an every-day ritual in the cafeteria: open your lunch box, take out your thermos, hold it next to your ear & shake it. You could tell which kid had the broken thermos...their face went white because all of us were threatned with certain death if we broke our thermoses. :scared:
