The basis of the U.S culture is the “American Dream”. No, not the television show, but the idea that a person can be as successful as they want to try for. That a person they can rise from low social levels to such great aspirations such as the President of the nation or the teacher of the net president. That you do not have to be what someone else dictates you can be, due to what some state I.Q. test said you are qualified for, or what a religious belief says, due to what your family stature is or cast is.

I think that you should temper it some with the thought that it is not quite as attainable as it was in your parents generation. It might offer a nice juxtaposition that can lead to a compare/contrast paper.

Part of the ability to have this dream is the idea of self government. With this, we can mold what we want from our government. We have the final say what happens. And if our elected officials do what we do not like we have the option to not re-elect them and put someone in that will do what the majority wants.
