Somebody called me last night around Midnight. They asked for
me by name, but didn't know my last name. It kind of freaked me out a bit. It was a cell call, and the woman's name was Brenda. Anyone? Anyone call me last night that I might not recognize by anything other than your screen name. I didn't mean to be rude, if it was a DUer. I'm still kind of perplexed by it. :hi:

1. That happened to a friend of mine in reverse--
She punched in the number and asked to speak to Larry, an awkward silence followed and then the man on the other end of the line replied, "I guess you can talk to him, but he's only 6 months old..."

5. Well, I've had 2 women call me, screaming at me that they found my number
in their man's pocket/wallet/etc... leaving me messages about how I need to keep away from their man (one said because he "...is tooken...") and she was his fiance and so on, and so on, and so on, in the foulest, rudest, most low class language possible.

I never found out who those women were, who their boyfriends were, or how my number ended up in their possession. Never got a call from the men either... never recalled giving my number to any such types of fellows for any such reason either.

Oy. Good fun, VERY entertaining!

6. This person just said,"Hey Laura! It's Brenda!"
And I sat trying to think who it could be. If I knew someone from DU with that name...and then they hung up. They called back and MrG answered, they asked for me again so he asked, "Laura who?" and they said they didn't know my last name. So one of two things happened, as near I can tell. It's a DUer that I know by their username and not their real name. Or my phone number is somebody's address book on their cellphone with just my first name. They didn't call back.

9. I was running through the names of all the DUers I know that I gave
my number too...and that is not many...and none of them are Brendas. I guess it could have been a fluke wrong number as well. I guess I will never know! :hi:

sharing my name with a disgraced former President and the even more disgraceful current Vice President. But I do not answer to "Dick." :)

12. It's truly scary
getting those phone calls. I was phone stalked once, and decided not to answer my phone. I could hear through my machine and this guy always kept on saying, "Simply_F I know you're there, please pick up, I know you're there". Truly scare. It was just after I had broken up with someone, so I suspected it was one of his friends. All the same, it was quite unnerving.

13. Yes it is. Especially at that time of night.
I have no idea who it was. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't somebody from here, because I didn't want to appear rude by not attempting to call back, but I don't know anyone named Brenda. My ex has telephoned us on and off for about 10 years now...but he is frightened by MrG. :hi:

14. MrsG, I doubt
that anyone from here would be so rude as to call you at midnight. Hopefully it was just a wrong number. And I'm glad that MrG puts the fear in your ex!

16. heh. I haven't really given my number out to too many people...that's
why I was pretty sure it wasn't a DUer, but one never knows. :hi: Lochloosa! How are you?

17. I have a very common name so that's happened to me
a number of times. Also I have a habit of getting phone numbers that previously belonged to companies or "interesting" people. Like once about six years ago I started getting calls from someone who always asked for me by name and insisted I was sleeping with her man. This went on for about six months. At one point I got so pissed off I said some pretty nasty things to her such as I can understand why her man why cheat on her but I have no f*ing idea who he is. One day she leaves a voice mail claiming she saw me with her man that weekend, she saw me go home afterwords, and is graciously lets me know when she's gonna come to my place to kick my ass. I don't have anything to fear because the person she described looked nothing like me and had a different address but I still called the police. After talking to the police and phone company I realize that the person who had my number before me was also named Jessica. They refused to let me know who this other Jessica or who the chick calling me was but I assume somebody contacted her because the calls stopped after that.

19. Wow! Somebody called here for a few weeks looking for "Sue". I wonder
if she ever did find her. We also get a lot of calls, daily, for State Farm insurance because our number is close to theirs. So many, in fact, that I'm thinking of offering insurance. :hi:

22. When we first moved here, we got calls in the middle of the night
all the time. For my husband. Well, not really him, but a guy with the same name.

Apparently, this guy was quite the rabble rouser. Had left many broken hearts and bad checks in his wake.
