Job advice
My daughter (25) living near the DC area is in (desperate) need of a job. She called me today saying she's been offered a position with a REPUBLICAN marketing firm. They do a lot of major corporate business, too - but the guy who's head of it sounds like your basic SHILL for the RNC and - in fact - is sort of a major policy wonk for all those guys. (I don't want to say who this guy is - but he definitely googles - and let's just say that DKOS and the like have all mentioned him quite UNFAVORABLY.)

Pros: the $$'s good. The hours are flexible (so she can finish her degree). And it would look good on her resume working for that sort of high level firm. (She used to want to go into political oriented work, but doesn't anymore. She's interested in doing non-profit work after she finishes school.) She'd get a first hand look at what the "opposition" is doing and tell me. LOL

Cons: It's the REPUBs dammit!! ggggaaaaaagggggg. . .

3. that's kind of my thinking.
She NEEDS a job - a good one. And it IS - just I hate the people she'd be working for.

She was so sweet to call and ask if I'd have a "problem" with her even considering going to work for them.

work for a Democrat.

Sorry, but it just does not happen here anymore. You choose sides once and that's it.

On edit: Most non-profits are still political, even if stated non-partisanship. Trust me on that one.

5. so -
do you think a potential non-profit might not hire her in the future just because she worked a fairly "low-level" job in Repub-oriented firm?
