which AFC team will win the big one this year?
lets face it...facts are facts...the NFC has a snowballs chance in hell of winning the super-bowl. the AFC is where the talent is this year...who is the best and brightest in the AFC...

my pics for the championship game are the chiefs and titans, but the pats are looking scarey...scarey like when they beat st.louis for the championship scarey....

indy is a paper tiger...but a talented paper tiger...

2 words for 'fins fans...dave wandstadt...'nuff said....

baltimore???...cincy???...i would love to see cincy go...good for them....

denver....sinking ship...good defence but sputtering offence...

flame away AFC fans...and digruntled NFC fans.........

Yep, I think you'll be seeing quite a bit more of The Guys With The Flying Elvis Logo during January. (The Old Man In The Mountain was not pleased at its appearance, but he got a Super Bowl win out of it and then expired with a mountain man's grin on his face.)

Ted Washington came back last week and uncharitably ate a Houston offensive lineman in celebration. (No barbeque sauce- nicely chopped up and cooked into a chowder, then chugged.) Sadly for opponents, the quota will probably soon move up to two per game.... With him back and Seymour running down anybody the NE defense is about to go back to being a complete monster. Their secondary is starting to looking picture perfect on coverages- the 'weak link' rookie cornerback there, Ty Poole, is having a most excellent time when opponents throw away from Ty Law. And, all playoff opponents should groan at the thought, they're still missing Roosevelt Colvin but may get him back in time.

The offense is less up to speed. They do have a slacker mode which shows up in games between (percieved) strong opponents- Cleveland and Houston were beneficiaries. There are a bunch of problems that derive from the offensive line, but as the OL improves and Brady's shoulder heals up (and I think he also got a new set of contact lenses after bombing so badly on long bombs last season) things are looking up. Graham seems to finally be maturing into something of an NFL Big Tight End, Kevin Faulk is getting actual holes to hit on early downs, and Antoine Smith- everyone's favorite rb to pick on- seems to be satisfied with being made short yardage specialist.

They seem to think they're gonna have some fun in the playoffs. Locally people thought in September they'd do well to end the season 10-6 and with a wild card spot. Now the AFC East title and 11-5 seems to be the lower bound on expectations, 13-3 and favored over the Chiefs the upper.

6. That's supposed to be the old man on the mountain?
Wow, I would have never guessed that. Doesn't look anything like it.

3. My money's on the Titans in the AFC...
but if anyone is going to count out St. Louis or any NFC team that can get by the Rams in the Super Bowl, they may just have a large plate of fried crow to eat come January.

4. DOLPHINS - Should be repeat of 1973...
Well with the number of previous pro-bowlers on this squad the choice is easy......

Dolphins in 2003.

Look for New England to lose to Indy tomorrow, Miami to defeat New England next week and then Miami to win against Phily in Miami on Monday night. The path to the AFC championship will be paved after that.

5. Hello,
The Chiefs are 10 and 1 right now and will go into the playoffs with home field advantage, even if they lose all the rest of their games, right?

13. No there are 5 games left
If they lose all of them Cincy could beat them out and they are 6 and 5.

7. The Chiefs
Edited on Sat Nov-29-03 12:13 PM by ZombyWoof
One of my least favorite teams, but it's foolish to let my bias cloud objectivity (jeez, no wonder I don't belong in GD). This will be their year.

I can see KC fighting it out with either Tennessee (slightly underrated) or Miami (slightly overrated, beating Dallas is nothing special) in the AFC championship.

Baltimore, N.E., Cincy, and Indy will all make stabs at it, but fall flat.

8. Maybe it's because of past history, but I can't see the Chiefs doing it
this year.

I'm going with the Pats right now.

10. The Chiefs have that certain air this year
Like Chicago in 85
The Giants in 86
Baltimore in 2000

They're the "it" team

11. DOLPHINS
ok, one can be suicidally hopeful can't one?

Chiefs = Rams, we'll see if a superior offense against a weak schedule can turn into actual victorites come January.

Indy is too inconsistant.

The Titans are quietly going about their business and I wouldnt be suprised to see them in there.

Baltimore has no chance, they just aren't that good.

Pats have a decent chance, but they let some bad games get away from them, and I always root against my AFC East Rivals.

Only team in the NFC with a chance is maybe the Eagles, and they don't have much

12. ah, sweet honesty!
Suicidally hopeful! LOL! You sound more fatalistic than the usual Dolphins fan.

As for the NFC, the Eagles look better and better, and the once-promising Seahawks need a defense. That collapse against Baltimore last week was embarrassing. They no longer have a lock on an NFC wildcard. Then there is Minnesota, who looks like they will falter too.

I think the Eagles can take the Rams in the NFC Championship.

Chiefs/Eagles Super Bowl.

14. Chiefs
There's no other choice.

They are going to win, everyone else might as well accept it and move on.
