When's the last time you guys heard a "thanks again" for welcoming the stranded Americans up there during the 9/11 crisis? You guys took good care of everyone and welcomed them into your homes as unless they were Saudi citizens or friends of the Bush family, they couldn't fly and were stranded.

It was quite amazing--I think there were about 12,000 people here in Nova Scotia and another several thousand in Newfoundland--in many cases, some of the poorer folk in North America helping some of the better off. Some lasting connections were forged during that time.
