I didn't intend to, but I feel awful just the same. If MrsGrumpy has a problem with you, it's a good bet that she's not the one who's a jerk. I joke about a lot of things on here, and it used to be enjoyable--almost anything and everything was okay to make the subject of gentle fun. Now it seems there is a lot of weird personal behind the scenes stuff going on that I don't fully understand, and I seem to be inadvertantly hurting the feelings of people I'd never want to hurt in a million years--once a few weeks ago, and now again just yesterday with MrsGrumpy. So I'm hanging up the foolscap for a little while. :D

It's definitely -not-, by and large, the fault of the people who get offended that the Lounge is a more sensitive place--it's more the fault of people who like to stir up trouble and wage intensely personal, internecine Lounge warfare, because that's what engenders this kind of paranoid sensitivity. The Lounge is a lot less of a good time when what's intended as silly nonsense is interpreted as a direct personal attack. Again, this isn't a matter of people who "can't take a joke," it's a matter of people being prepared to see things as hurtful because too often now the intention -is- to be hurtful, and not even hurtful in a clever and entertaining way. :P

So I'm going to take a few days off, and then I'll come back and try to readjust myself so I don't cause as much collateral damage. If you're laughing at this thread and at me--good! It -is- ridiculous on many levels, and if I were reading this I would already be plotting a thread to poke fun at the tedious didacticism and self-important drama of this post. :D But that's the old Lounge, I think. I am one of the ones having overly sensitive reactions to some things that are wholly unrelated to me, due in part to some thinly veiled personal attacks (as well as some blatant ones) I've received over the past few months...based on things that should have remained private in my life .

I am going to follow your lead and take a bit of time away as well. Life needs to be lived.
