unofficial Coretta Scott King tribute thread
Just saw it on the news.
Usually I read about it on DU first.

She is one of ours, a civil rights leader

"When Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968, his widow understandably could have retired from public life and devoted herself to bringing up her children. Instead, Coretta Scott King carried on her husband's work, trying to fulfill his dream of an America in which all people had equal rights."

1. Her grace
helped us get through the dark days of 1968.

I wonder sometimes if she was even more successful than he might have been had he lived.

2. Well, I was a happy, ignorant six year old then
but it is good to see you. :hi:

It is also nice that news of her and bits with Jesse Jackson and Hillary are bumping Alito and SOTU off of ABCnews. Maybe it will create a contrast in the public mind between leaders like her and the Republicans who are trying to undo the progress she accomplished.
