30. I got strep throat last year

I was at a conference in the states (I'm Canadian). I got it pretty bad. Imagine laying in a hotel for four days with an 103 fever and no idea how to get to a doctor (I had no care, and I forgot to get insurance for those 4 days). Then I had to drive back to Canada (an 10 hour trip, still had the fever). The doctor told me if I had waited one more day, she would have had to send me to the hospital. Luckily, she prescribed a large dose of antibiotics and I felt better in a couple of days.

I have never felt worse than I did during those days...especially since I was expected to attend some talks and discuss a poster I had made. Ugh.
