I get so weary sometimes - I've been accused of being a "Cindy-basher"
Just because I questioned the decision of Cindy Sheehan to wear an anti-war T-shirt to the SOTU, a couple of folks on GD tarred me as a Cindy-basher, despite the fact that my wife and I supported Camp Casey with our presence, our money, and even humanitarian goods.

Sorry, folks - I just have to vent briefly. A lot of you, especially the Texas gang, knows how I really feel about Cindy and her revitalization of the anti-war movement. To have someone put words in my mouth is something that I do not appreciate and will not tolerate. Ever.

There. That feels better. But I still feel like I need a hug.

2. I'm on your side.
You can support her, and still say that she made a boneheaded move tonight. It does NOT make you a "Cindy-basher" to point out that, although she's a wonderful woman in general, she does have a bit to learn about "choosing her fights wisely."

It's NOT an insult to say that. You're only trying to be helpful, right?

I only want Cindy to keep on keepin' on. She should have never been arrested.

5. Cinday has the right to say what she wants. So do YOU!
Ignore the misinformed and keep on doing what you believe in and keep on saying what you believe.

6. I understand the impulse for quick retribution against
anyone who is critical of Cindy Sheehan for sticking her neck out. That's why someone accused you of "Cindy-bashing". Rather than criticize someone who sticks her neck out, why not stick yours out a little further? Maybe then it won't be so lonely and awkward for Cindy. BTW, I was at Camp Casey II in Covington and I had the pleasure of meeting Cindy in New Orleans.

16. I read his whole post.
I understood that he stuck his neck out in support of Cindy at Camp Casey. Everyone appreciates what he did then. More people should have done what he and his wife did in support of Cindy.

Cindy stuck her neck out tonight, dude criticized her and got negative feedback. Not suprising. In principle, I always like to support the person that sticks their neck out, not take away from their effort with second-guessing and petty criticism.

10. This man was at Camp Casey as well.
His normal sig line is "Texas is Cindy Country" for crying out loud.

This man and his wife are committed activists here in Texas.

14. He was at the original Camp Casey
I understood that, and that's why I mentioned being at Camp Casey II in Covington. Knowing all that he had done, which I'm grateful for, I still thought the post was a moment of weakness.

8. Did the t-shirt in question offend you?
She was an invited guest. Why should what she wears be offensive?

11. I certainly wasn't offended, myself...
But no matter how much the rules of decorum at Capitol Hill might suck, they're still there.

And I would have loved to see Cindy staring right into Bush's eyes and watching him flinch so he wouldn't have to make eye contact with her.

Then again, Cindy did pull attention away from the SOTU herself with her actions, as some folks on GD have pointed out. Instead of that lackluster speech about "human/animal hybrids" being the story, Cindy is the story. So perhaps she had a very good idea of what was going to happen, after all. I conceed that possibility.

17. Right now, the only thing I'm worried about...
...is whether Cindy or any of her fellow protesters were seriously hurt by police. I'm getting reports that Cindy was "roughed up" and that one protester was kicked in the head.

You seemed to be more worried about "the rules" before but I'll take your response at face value.
