For real.

Yeah, people, let's throw everyone under the bus.

1. I don't think anyone is saying dump ALL Democrats...
...just those who wouldn't stand up against Alito and support a filibuster.

The 58-42 vote to confirm today proved that a filibuster was not only possible, but also had a chance of success.

2. Vote out the republicans in 06.
Can't herd the cats (Dems). Too many independent thinkers. We clash.

5. Agreed.
Sure, there are some Democrats that need to be dumped...Lieberman, I'm looking at YOU.

But we need to keep in mind that some of the DINOs come from states where electing a progressive Democrat is simply not going to happen. ::cough::Nebraska::cough::Nelson::cough::

Meanwhile, if we could take back Congress, we'd have the power to convince them to stay with us.

I'm all for dumping the DINOs in places were we actually have a shot of replacing them with someone better, but we need to be realistic and accept that we're not going to get the 2nd coming of Barbara Boxer out of some of those red states.

15 house seats...we need 15 house seats.
What? 7 Senate seats? The house in 2006, complete the Senate in 2008.

Fight for that. We need to be in charge of at least one branch of government. Throwing everyone out is not the way to do that.

8. Oh, I know. The Dem Senators (most) did what we asked them to, and

the response of some is to slam them. It's painful to see. Friendly fire isn't gonna get the Dems anywhere.

I wish they would direct all the anger and disappointment about the filibuster towards the Republicans. Or at the very least, reserve it for the traitors on the cloture vote. But they're going after people like Reid, and even Dean. :sigh:

10. I know
:grr:

Write nasty letters to those who voted for cloture, and work to get more Dems in Congress. Period. Anything less is not good enough.

9. If the "Alito 19" survive the primaries I want them to receive...
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 12:05 AM by Heaven and Earth
I have no problem with them sticking around (at least until the next primary season). Their performance would probably improve.

This is about their failure to stand up against a supreme court nominee that goes against everything we believe in, and the checks and balances that sustain our government. We asked for a filibuster, and we got about half the party. Now, there must be consequences for those who didn't get the message.
This is about sustaining momentum and increasing our influence within the party, as well as strengthening the overall message and party organization. Not throwing people under a bus.

To be clear, I fully support our leadership team, and have no intention of leaving the party. I do not blame them or the party as a whole for what happened. That responsibility lies with the 19, and with us, for not getting involved more intensely, sooner.

INCUMBENTS. I've voted that way on a national level for a very long time.
