45. I really don't know why they tried to push it through.

It was a law designed to ban incitement to religious hatred - but as folk read it they realised that under it's terms comedians might well be breaking the law. It was being opposed by the National Secular Society AND the Evangelical Alliance (these aren't quite Pat Robertson types, thankfully) - as you can probably guess I would never ever have imagined those two sitting side by side for anything.

Opposition to Blair makes for very strange bed-fellows.

In a similarish vein - I'm surprised that more American conservatives (by which I mean real conservatives) haven't started to attack Bush more, his budget deficit &c. is hardly in line with what they support.

My stress level has been reduced greatly. Everything went well with the bank. The first oil delivery after we started burning wood was down buy 1/3 (honestly). That should also reduce our enormous electric bill because the blowers for the heat won't be kicking in every 15 minutes ~ silence is golden. All the noise in this old house plays havoc with my hearing aids.

Personally, I don't think it's the modem. I think the connection outside is getting bad. I'm getting "packet loss" in upwards of 60%. All that is is the "packets" of information I'm sending through the network to view a webpage is going out, but not coming back to my computer. It's not getting through sometimes, so consequently, it has taken over 15 minutes for a web page to come up. With a broadband connection, that's wrong. :rofl:

And I'm sure that if I were selling this place I WOULD be picking up pet hair all the time. It's just one of the consequences of owning a pet. Tony is the "darlingest" puppy EVER! :rofl:

We had lots of trouble with Adelphia. They finally gave us a booster and turned on all the movie channels -- that sped things up pretty well for a while. They just couldn't keep the cable up all the time. I hope you get yours solved!
