The kid went back to school. The husband has a cold but went to work. I don't have a pile of reports to write for a change.

How pray tell, should I amuse myself? In a wholesome way, of course. Well, besides house cleaning.

1. If all my charges ever get well, I'll let you know
Until then, I'm still working on getting hedges back to 100%, still feeding the dog his antibiotics and now stuffing the kid full of cough drops. x(

Glad yours have all recovered. I think you should make some sangria, put on The Damned "New Rose" extremely loud and bounce off the walls for a while. :bounce:

8. interesting
I'll consider that. Although my sister is here and trying to find a place to fix her car, which has a car type of illness. And then I have to clean out the kid's old room so his buddy will have a place to sleep for a sleepover this weekend.

I had to get the kid an inhaler, since the am coughing, on the way to school, no less, would not abate. Meanwhile, he never coughed any other time. Weird, eh.

Is your puppy ok? Hope all get to feeling better.

10. I did start with the tax papers for my business yesterday
I did read the paper, but the NYT is still waiting. I was reading about an individual who was oh so popular in another forum over the past few days. (I won't say his name.) ;)

Thanks for the ideas!

11. it's cool to have the time
but after so much going on the last few weeks, I almost feel like I should still be in "crisis" mode.

I did manage to find a DVD that "fell" behind the TV area....now I won't be in hock to the evil DVD rental people.

it's good to have down time, it's just hard to make use of it! Or do you have little ones running in and out all day to distract you? When my husband worked from home he really liked to be able to stop and do puttering around the house stuff... play with the cat and the kid.

5. Got a few extra bucks lying around?
Go get a manicure/pedicure or a massage. GREAT way to pamper yourself.

15. Sometimes people have a few extra bucks for stuff like that.
It's cheap here to get a mani/pedi. You gotta make fun of me, huh? I try to give you a suggestion...
OK, more realistic? Go get a sandwich at your favorite deli and eat it someplace outside. Take the dog. I don't know. I'm not that creative today.

20. Exaclty the same as before....
Only now I have a different last name, and my in-laws treat me like I'm one of their kids, which is the best part. Nothing else is really different at all.

I just started The Shipping News... Annie Proulx sure can write. I always forget that, if it's been a while since I last read something by her. I still remember reading the Brokeback Mountain short story in the New Yorker a while back.... it was excellent.

19. Gawd I just read an entire book yesterday that had me weeping
at the end. It's called Talk Before Sleep, by Elizabeth Berg. Very moving story of a friendship between two women, one of whom gets breast cancer. It was truly a beautiful book and it really touched me.

I love Anne Proulx, too. She's great.

Enjoy your day, whatever you do, gf! :pals:
