I still really can't believe it -- a slug of booze stops a cough. |
|
Too bad I'm not supposed to drink.
But it really doesn't take much! Half a shot does it.
Wow! It's good to know that my Grandma knew what she was doing when she gave me cherry brandy....

what i do every time i get sick, is drink a pot of hot coffee in the morning (for my throat) and at night drink some whiskey (for my cough) and then the rest of my sickness is just sinus issues and being really tired. the coffee thing doesnt work for everyone, but it always gets rid of my sore throats

and you're good to go. Well at least good to go to bed.
And never underestimate the power of a hot toddy. A shot of scotch, warm water, a little honey and lemon to taste. Can cure damn near anything. Or at least make you feel better.

11. know what did it for me? |
|
a native Mexican at work had me try his "home-made" salsa - I was on the phone at the time, not really paying attention - boy, it was HOT HOT HOT - after I was done sweating and choking for thrity minutes I found that both my cough and my stuffed-up sinues were cured. :o

My doctor had all these remedies to help my son when he started teething-none worked any better than Bush's Iraqi pacification plan-so I called my Mum and she said to do the same thing thing she did with me-rub bourbon on the gums-Well he slept like a log and my wife and I returned to a reasonable semblance of sanity-Sejanus

16. I've used brandy and whiskey. |
|
Both work well. And when you think of how long they will last in your cabinet it's much cheaper than running to the drugstore and purchasing Oragel or something like that. Plus, you know what's in the liquor compared to most drugstore products. Cough-wise, my daughter gets mustard plasters. Cheap, easy and they work better than anything I've ever found.

Rye whiskey with a stick of rock candy in it. Don't know if they still sell it like that but it worked real well when I was a kid.
