Unsolicited pitch for antihistamine eye drops (for kitty allergies
or rather for allergies to kitties.)
I appreciate that most people have the breathing-type (that is, the lack of ability to breathe-type) allergies but if, like me, you mainly are affected in the eyes, the eye drops can be, if not a life saver, than a sanity saver. I used to spend all my time in the library because the kitty (now kittieS) at my girlfriend's house were causing me so much eye pain. Now I still spend a lot of time here because now that I'll actually pet them they never leave me alone. But they're very sweet and I'm glad to be able to participate more fully in the household. If you ever have eye problems from being around pets, these are a miracle. (I'm using the house brand from Eckerd's, labeled Allergy Relief Eye Drops, and they work fine. At $6 for a bottle, not exactly cheap, but worth it.)

1. What? A kitty thread with no replies? That's unprecedented!
:P

2. I use Patinol, a prescription formula, which is AWESOME
I have horrible allergies when the mountain cedar is pollinating and blooming down in the Hill Country and then blows up our way when the wind comes from the south.
This is usually November/December/January.

My eyes itch, burn, tear, everything. The combination of Patinol drops and Claritin really keeps it under control.

When my allergies are stirred up by something else, then the kitties also make me sneeze. Otherwise they don't bother me at all.

3. Wow. Glad that works for you.
Fortunately, cat dander is my only allergy; given that it's more likely to be just a plain old irritation rather than an allergy, but the allergy eye drops work regardless. I'm glad you've found medications to help with your situation, too.
