2. Ok. Why will the internets mobilize en mass against Alito...
...but they won't to stop the War on Terra?

Jack Murtha sent an FU letter to Bush today calling again for redeployment of the troops. Where are the furious faxes, emails, and phone calls telling our reps we stand with Jack?

LOL! You thought I was gonna throw you a softball.

4. Because the economic elites who control the purse strings,
even within the Democratic Party, are more willing to oppose Alito than come out against the war.
Also, the left is fractured. Everyone has their own little issue or cause and they don't like helping others too often. Alito presents an opportunity for everyone to work together in one big push because everyone can pick something they don't like about Alito. You'll have a hard time getting pro-choice groups, most unions, civil rights groups and others making a big effort to stop the war. There's no unity among progressive organizations and activists unless it effects everyones pet issue.

Kind of scared to go to one in Indiana, even if I had the transportation to do it. If I were in WA still, I'd definitely be out there with everyone else. WA doesn't scare me like Indy does.

Been to a lot of protests? Just anti-war or others too?

I don't like Indiana much, I'm originally from Washington State (Western WA that is ;))

I'm sure I'd like Indiana a little more if I had the chance to see more of it, but we are pedestrians and so pretty much just hang in our town. :)

Standard answer number #132: Just because Clinton did it too, doesn't make it right.

Clinton did a lot of things I didn't like. Politics isn't a sports game where the team who scores the most points win. I hate that part talk-radio mentality.

I mostly read non-fiction and I love Zinn's writings. I've only read one Vonnegut book so far but I've been planning to read more. I'm not sure who my favorite American fiction writer would be. Maybe Steinbeck. I can't think of any other American fiction writer who has inspired me to read at least three of his books.
