2. Draw the person smiling? |
|
Their eyes can be drawn as slits? It's easier. Duckie

I want it to be a faithful rendition, if I can. *If* being the operative word!

18. Look for the negative spaces and shadows |
|
And draw those. Work on the highlighting after you have the dark areas completed.
Since you're working from a photo, scan it, then use your photo program (if you have one) to enlarge the eye area, crop it, then make it a negative to help you better see those areas.

All I need is a picture in which I can clearly see your features! It needs to be a close shot.

20. Pencil is a good medium, but the problem I have is |
|
it doesn't scan very well. It seems to reflect the scanner's light. I have the same problem if I attempt to capture it using a camera (it reflects the flash).

All of your drawings have amazed me. They look just like the Duer's picture. I wish I had that kind of talent.

especially when the nose in question belongs to LeftyMom or progmom, both of whom have painfully cute noses.
I find mouths very difficult also.

29. Turn the photo and your drawing upside down |
|
That sometimes helps. I always have a hard time with mouths and this method seems to help. The best way I have found to work from photos though is to lay them out on a grid, but some would call that "cheating". :)
