March enthusiasts and/or instrumentalists: help me identify this piece? |
|
I'm listening to a Bessie Smith/Louis Armstrong recording of "St. Louis Blues", and Louis Armstrong plays a snippet of a theme from some march that I know I've played or conducted, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. The notes, as best as I can figure without getting up to check on the piano:
Eb (down to) D (up to) F (down to) Eb (down to) D (up to) Eb (down from here) Bb G F Eb
The next part is something like: G G, F Ab G G, F G Ab
Then the first phrase up a whole step, more or less.
HELP! This is driving me bonkers.

3. Is it a 6/8 march or 4/4 march? |
|
can you give any note lengths for your notes?

4. 2/2, I think. I've been told it's National Emblem by E.E. Bagley. |
