Cover versions you wish could've happened, but won't?
I'll bet Nico would've done a really cool version of "Georgy Girl". But I'll never know; I'll just have to be content with my imaginary version.

Whatcha got, Lounge?

1. Fred Schneider doing an acapella Swans tribute album.
"Open your mouth! Here is your money! Money is flesh! God damn the sun!"

2. You've obviously been aching for this for a long time.
I can understand why. That would be some powerful stuff.

4. Can you imagine?!
"Your flesh is weak! Tear off the arms, tear off the legs, get rid of the body! Now you're a clay man!"

"I am the sun, I love everyone, and before the day is done, I'll kill another child!"

Imagine that punctuated with the occasional toy piano or smoke detector solo...

3. A Billy Bragg/Joe Strummer split
With them covering eachother's songs (Bragg doing Spanish Bombs, maybe? Strummer doing Help Save the Youth of America?), and old protest songs.

29. I don't want Diamanda Galas to cover anything!
Her version of "I Put A Spell On You" scared the hell out of me!

The woman has an incredible voice. "Plague Mass" was beautiful and moving - but that girl is scary!

Khash.

13. Try singing along with it in your best Dylan voice.
The song was made for Dylan! And Petty can't sing worth a darn, either. His voice just isn't as annoying. :-)

I've always joked that Tom Petty sounds like Bob Dylan after singing lessons.

11. Megadeth already covered Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots"
So I'm pretty much happy with things.

On the other hand, I would never in a million years have thought of having Johnny Cash cover Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," and that is quite possibly one of the best cover songs ever.

Hmmmm... any chance we could talk Lyle Lovett into covering VNV Nation's "Chrome"?

20. yes!
"The Bed" is off the Berlin album, one of the most depessing of all-time; the song itself is about suicide, so I have to think Curtis at least heard it a few times, being a Velvet Underground fan in all..

That's one of my favorite covers of "Louie Louie", along w/ Iggy's version...

16. *wanders way off topic*
A long, long time ago, I was listening to a short-lived heavy metal radio station, and one of the DJs did a Bob Dylan impression while singing Slayer songs. It was about the funniest thing I've ever heard.

30. She did Bonny and Clyde
She doesn't really sing it, she speaks it. It really made her angry. I can see why.
But Strange Little Girls is probably her worst album IMHO - so uneven. Moments of brilliance, moments of pure crap. Although it seems I'm the only person who liked her version of Neil Young's "Heart of Gold".
