I laughed at first too, because it sounded like the kind of nutty thing the Christian conservatives would just make up.

I'm still undecided on this. On the one hand, there is enormous potential for medial research, and possibly even a way to produce human organs for transplants, but the technology is really creepy and raises some uncomfortable moral questions.

I mean, what if those modified mice with human-like brains have an increased capacity for self awareness? Is it then ethical to conduct experiments on them? I have no problem with using this "chimera" technology to create heart valves for people, but some of it really gives me the heebie-jeebies.
