I've been out of work for 6 weeks, (collecting unemployment) and I really need a job.
Professionally, it looks like a good opportunity, just what I need right now.
The downside- its 53 miles away. I've done the commute thing before, and it wears you out. It cuts deeply into my time for activism and seeing friends.
But I guess its better than the wrong job in the right location!. I said no to a closer opportunity that required a security clearance because I don't trust the DoD.
I told them I would have an answer in the morning...

Yes, 53 miles is a lot, especially if you contend with traffic. But it is a job and, perhaps, you will be able to find something closer while you are earning a few bucks.
Congrats and good luck!

3. Congrats on the offer! I empathize with |

the long commute - traveled from Fairfield County to NYC everyday for 7 years and it was exhausting. MY advice would be to take the job, but to keep careful watch for how you feel physically and emotionally after a few months. The first 90 days or so you'll be running on adrenaline, so that doesn't count ;)
Just be good to yourself, adn look at the big picture. Oh, and don't stop looking for something new unless you COMPLETELY fall in love with this job and your co-workers!!
Congrats again :toast:

At least its February and there can't be more than a couple of big snowfalls left!
The person who left the job commuted 100 miles each way, so I guess its doable. Maybe I can rideshare.
