PORTLAND, Maine -- Famed outfitter L.L. Bean is caught a little red-faced, trying to hook fishermen.

The company's new Fishing 2006 catalog has a misprint in the toll-free number. If anglers call the number printed in the catalog they'll get one of those phone sex lines. The number should read (800) FISH-LLB. But the typo swaps some of the letters.

The misprint is on the first page, but the number is correct in other parts of the catalog.

A Bean spokesman said the company is sending e-mail and postcards to customers, apologizing "for any embarrassment or discomfort."
