Faxing via vonage (or other VOIP service)?

Has anyone had consistent success with this? I can fax some fax machines, but others consistently don't work (most specifically, the fax at Sen. Salazar's Washington office).

1. I have a Vonage fax line, and at first I couldn't fax everywhere

but I had had a bit of a problem with that anyway before switching to Vonage. Some numbers worked fine, but my machine seemed to be unable to detect the "handshake" of some other machines.

I finally decided that the problem was with my out-of-date fax machine (bought in 1996). A new fax machine solved the problem. I've had no problems since then.

2. It's a new fax machine - bought in December.

I'll look and see if there are driver updates... Though I have no idea how to update them.... (It's a stand alone fax/copier, not a printer.)
