Free Air America podcasts to end on Feb |
|
7..what will I do?
There is no Air America station in my area.
I still am not sure about the premium service but I have grown so dependent upon the podcasts! They help me get through the day at work.
Have any Lounge Lizards signed up for the premium service from Air America?

2. The idea is to listen to the shows at your lesiure |
|
when you want. While the free streams are great, you have to plan your schedule around them.
I did a few Franken podcasts, did not really like it, but Ed Schultz puts out 3 to 4 podcasts of 7-35min clips of his show daily for free.

4. Ed Schultz? Ewwwwwwwwww. |
|
Ed doesn't really do his homework, which really annoys me in a political talk show host.
On top of that, his "liberalism" is superficial to say the least. He used to be a conservative talk show host.

5. I'm not much into "streaming" |
|
If I'm not at my PC sitting in front of it, it is turned off. I paid a shit-load for a Sirius lifetime subscription and was a fan of Alan Colmes (much better alone than with Hannity) but then they took his show off and put on Stephanie Miller. She's okay but she runs her show like your typical shock-jock FM morning shows. Sound effects, bad jokes, talking with the staff. Blah! That's when it's time to turn on CBC or some smooth jazz.

8. You need to switch to XM so you can get Air America |
|
Alan Colmes? What could you possibly learn from a guy who can't win an argument with what is quite possibly the stupidest human being on American television?
And yeah, Stephanie Miller is mildly annoying. It's not a "shock jock" format she's using, it's referred to as the "zoo" format.

Got it. A new term for me. I personally like Alan a lot and so does my wife. People criticize him a lot for not interrupting Hannity or talking over him, calling people names, etc. but that's not his style and it proves that all Hannity is just a big prick that shoots his mouth off. Plus, as mentioned in Alan's book, Hannity is the headliner and it is a dominantly right network. Personally I find a person more easier to listen to and more credible when they don't do the name calling and consider an argument won just because they talked over someone. Plus I really like and respect someone that doesn't hate other Americans just because they have a different viewpoint and he doesn't blindly obey the party if it is something he disagrees with by his choice or principals. He and I are very different than the majority of American democrats as he and I are not followers, blindly obedient sheep, told what to do and what we should do because some fat-cat in Washington says we should. We're both individuals that haven't forgotten that we have a constitutional right to our own opinions and a right to criticize our party when they claim they represent us when they don't. When they'd rather please their republican buddies in Washington rather than their constituents in their own state.
Wow a right to have our very own opinions instead of the same as Al Franken. Un-democratic?

10. I don't have a real computer where I work. I have |
|
what's called a thin client (like a giant modem that connects to a server) so I cannot stream during the day. I wonder if anyone will bit torrent the shows. Howard Stern's show has been showing up on bit torrent sites and Sirius is not happy.

6. Just what the network needs... |
|
...fewer people listening. :sarcasm:
While I love their programming, the deals they've had to make with Satan for advertising tick me off (Wal-mart and various snake-oil salesmen, plus an apparent effort to air only the smarmiest, stupidest ads imaginable).

14. I an addicted to Rachel Maddow's show. |
|
I podcast it most days that I miss it. I can't usually do the stream at home because there are like 40 kids running around, plus a girlfriend who actually expects me to talk to her, so in all likelihood, I'll be asking for the premium service for my upcoming birthday (hint, hint).
Just kidding, sweetheart! You'll still get me a birthday present, right?:loveya:

15. AAR lost me when they killed Morning Sedition |
|
Morning Sedition was the best thing on radio, but they killed the show reportedly because it had too much comedy. The new executive management (Goldberg) has strayed too far from AAR's progressive roots in pursuit of commercialism. A year ago when they killed Unfiltered I had my doubts, and this only confirmed them. The ridiculous fees they want to charge for podcasts now are just adding insult to injury.
I'll miss the Rachel Maddow Show podcasts for my morning news fix. And when Marc Maron's new show premiers I'll give it a listen. Other than that, though... well, as Stephen Colbert says, AAR is dead to me!
