It's only painful if you have none or lost that which you had. Many people pass through life either missing it completly or searching for the one that was lost. Love lost and found is very common between all but each and every one of us sees it through unique eyes.

16. But wait - according to my Republican Team Leader material, |
|
all gays and bi's are lusty sex-crazed multi-partnered immoral family haters who would just as soon kill their mothers as actually make a commitment to someone, and yet, only 9% of you are polyamorous (which can be defined in many ways, so I make no judgments there) which means a 91% of you are either in commited relationships, are looking for one, or are neither looking nor polyamorous. 91%!!
Oh no - cognitive dissonance!! You don't mean that republicans might be (strike loud orchestra scary chord here) wrong?! So does that mean that, for instance, this war might be wrong?
MY HEAD IS SPINNING!
Quick! Back to freerepublic for a fresh dose of made-up shit that will give me the stability I need to avoid reality and relearn my FOX news thinking points! Whew!!

It's freakish, isn't it...gee we can't possibly be like everyone else? That's what the RW doesn't realize, we are everyone. Jerks. Anyway, I voted for single and looking <sigh>. My ex (who remains my best friend), her brother was president of the Illinois Moral Majority (and a fundy preacher). I've seen evidence of their family values. They don't have room to talk. Oh the stories I could tell!

19. Those who bitch the most about sexual morality |
|
are the ones most likely breaking the sexual morality codes.
More than likely.
The old "Methinks thou dost protest too much" effect.
Fred Phelps? Bet he's gay as a post and the type who IS hammering small boys and who loves to go to gay biker bars and be dominated by guys in leather who use leashes and urination and whips. Wouldn't surprise me a bit. Not one bit at all.
I love all my lesbian, gay, bi, TG, TS, and whatever brothers and sisters and bristers and sothers! (I just made those last two up). My church has a long acronym now for it, and I can't remember, but it's LGBTT and then a couple more for something like "Queer but not sure" and "Don't know but gay". THAT is just getting out of control, but I'm glad my church, at least, recognizes the validity and human worth of the LGBTTwhatever human beings.
I didn't realize you were gay. Or is it lesbian? I don't remember. But I remember our discussion and mutual hatred of Thomas Kinkade (who I bet also likes to be peed on by overweight men in leather while they recite from the book of satan, or something).

"Oh, I can't get hard - Rush, pee in my mouth!" etc. etc. etc. "and then Newt cums and there's a little maggot" etc. etc. etc. Can't remember the words, exactly, but it's a hilarious bit of dark poetry.
I wish Hicks was still with us. He'd love/hate this misadministration.
At least we have David Cross.

The "Bubble with the maggot in it" doesn't form until Barbara Bush does 'you know what' with her pearls. He does call it his dark poetry and he was a master at it. God only knows what he would do today. He would probably be on top of his game as the dark master!!!

23. I'm honored you remember the Kinkade thing! |
|
Kinkade is no better than color by numbers. You do make me laugh. That was funny! BTW, I'm a lesbian (maybe with a gay man's sensibilities!). I remember reading that Phelps was a major child abuser. Much like my ex's brother and sister in law. Horrific stories there! Honestly, I feel that anyone who is so upset by the mere presence of gays and lesbians is disturbed by something deep within and being faced with it brings it to fore and it scares the hell out of them. I'd love to ask them when they made the decison that they were straight (since they think we all make that same one). I was lucky that I realized who I was early (3rd grade). Others don't realize it until they are in their 20's and way into middleage. Maybe that's why your church has a space for them. Fear of rejection is hard to deal with. I'm glad that you go somewhere that is accepting! Very cool!

38. "I remember reading that Phelps was a major child abuser." |
|
I've read the same. I can imagine nothing less, given this tale from an article in an Iowa paper from April 2000 (or was it 2001?).
An Iowa legislature staffer walked by where the Phelpsians were protesting at the Iowa statehouse, and was shocked to see children among the protestors (I use the term charitably; and almost all of the protestors are Phelps' own progeny). As usual, the kids were surrounded by the customary "GOD HATES F*GS" picket signs. This staffer walked up to one of the kids and told him, "God doesn't hate."
The child replied, "Screw you."

after a 1 1/2 year relationship. Eventhough I've been in much longer relationships, I thought this last one was "it." I'm taking plenty of time to heal (unlike many lesbians who tend to go from one relationship to the next). I'm really working on building and maintaing quality friendships and I've experienced a lot of growth..but I sure do miss her :-(

41. It was 3 years on September 10 |
|
We met 10/24/99, on line (not chat, not a dating site -- a message board). Neither of us was looking. On Sept. 10 the following year, we packed Harry & Richard in the back of the Tercel and drove from Huntington Beach, CA, to the DC area. Took ten days, stopped at the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, the OKC Memorial, Knoxville, TN to see her folks, then to my new home.
And it's permanent. We realize the harships that will come, but our love & committment are permanent. This is 'til death do us part.
I want to tell this story to every single person who does not believe that we marry and commit for life. Sure, most of them would accuse me to my face of lying, but I'd just tell them to stay in touch w/ me over the years and see.

I'm straight myself, and have been in a committed relationship for 15 years, but my straight Dad's been married 3 times and is going on wifey # 4 go figure
