all the good vibes I can possibly muster your way, my friend. Although I've had no desire to have children, I realize that it's a monumental occurance, and I can't think of anybody more ready to take on this than you and Mrs. A.

And don't pass out when it happens!:)

12. When my wife and I were going to Lamaze, every time the
woman teaching the class said "mucous plug", I thought I was going to puke.

I hate the way that sounds.

17. Here's a song for you!
...and as our trembling, blue-faced fetus, claws it way to meet us,
and our hands are red with afterbirth, we know:
We're having a baby! We're having a baby!
You plant the seed, you watch it grow,
and in nine months the mucus plug, becomes the bloody show!
We're having a baby! We're having a baby!

(from HBO's Dream On, circa 1992)

23. Maybe a silly question, but have you called the doc and told
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 10:32 AM by Whoa_Nelly
about the mucous plug? Hope so. Sometimes labor won't start right away, and the plug is what has helped to keep out possibilities of infectioon. Generally it's a good idea to let the doc/midwife know about this change. Not a huge deal in terms of making an emergency call....just best to update the practioner.

Don't know if you are for saving the cord blood for stem cells, but if you are, you can check that out here:
http://www.cryo-cell.com/service/competitive_matrix.asp

Good luck! Will be looking for your update. Breathe deeply A LOT! And sleep while you can :hi:

Thinking of both you and your wife.

36. Here's another tip, for your wife:
this was suggested to me, before I went into labor and it was quite helpful:

the word "OPEN" is very powerful. I repeated it over and over again, out loud, while I was laboring. I was practically chanting it, towards the end. It became almost like it became a song and I was singing the baby down. It was realy quite powerful and beautiful. Plus, I did a lot of my laboring in the jacuzzi at the hospital. The hot water was incredibly soothing and comforting.

Also, another tip: when the really intense contractions start, be sure to have her OPEN her hands up, too, so that all the fingers are splayed apart. A laboring mother is workin' with a LOT of powerful energy that needs to be released, and it's important she not block it by closing up and making a fist.

Blessings to you all....

Keep us posted, aquaman!

43. Yes, another vote for hot water during birth!!
:applause:

That was the only thing that brought me any relief ... although I guess drugs would have helped if I'd gone that route!

P.S. However, I think if my husband would have reminded me to open my hands up during certain parts of labor I would have balled them into fists and slugged him!

but don't get too impatient! Everything in due time.

I always tell my clients: "I've never seen one stay in there forever! Even if it feels that you'll be pregnant forever, the pregnancy always comes to an end; enjoy it while it lasts, it's a rare event in life."
