British women are ditching their g-strings in favour of men's-style boxer shorts, a survey reveals today.

Women are going for the stylish look of "boy shorts", which are shorter than men's boxers but cover more than barely-there thongs.

And men approve of this sexy shift in girl's tastes, with most citing boxers on a woman as their biggest turn-on.

The research, by women's clothing company La Redoute, shows 57% of British women like boy shorts more than g-strings, while 60% of men say it turns them on more than anything.

In the survey of 500 adults, the average British adult owns 22 pairs of knickers, with an optimistic 27% saving a set of "pulling pants" for hot dates.

I've worn thongs for years(not the g-string ones but the mid-string style). I've thought they looked cute but are they comfortable? And do you have a line when you wear certain styles of clothing? Are they easy to work out in?

If a woman is going to be naked, be naked. If she's going to wear undies to be sexy, she should cover a little to add a bit of mystery and challenge. G-Strings aren't as sexy as naked, but they aren't interesting enough to add any real desire to a situation. They're just...there.

I understand that there are certain kinds of clothing that are best worn with G-Strings underneath, and that's fine. Other than that, however, I have to admit that I've never understood the appeal.
