pictures of a sad and beautiful ceremony for one of our soldiers |
|
A photo slide from RockyMountainNews.com. This is quite moving and a great tradition. Don't know if you have seen before, either way, worth it the second time. Wake for an Indian warrior http://multimedia.rockymountainnews.com/slideshow/slideshow.cfm?type=DEFAULT&ID=012006lundstrom&NUM=1

A touching ceremony. Thanks for reminding us wildhorses...my heart is breaking today. These boys and girls and men and women should still be with us. :( Thanks again, we need to see these. I've reached my breaking point...that poor little boy. He wasn't even grown up yet.

23. How beautiful and heartbreaking. |
|
Ritual and ceremony are very comforting at such sad times. My father in law had a veteran's funeral. I remember watching the members of the honor guard folding the flag with that crisp precision, and then handing it to my mother in law. I was mesmerized. It helped me to hold back the tears. It was, I don't know, so brave and to the point, somehow. Words can't explain. At least my father in law was old and had survived his war and raised a family. Sigh.

 And incredible to think that a nation that was disenfranchised and subjected to what amounts to attempted genocide serves in such great numbers. These photos leave me speechless.
