I am a darn good cook but...
how can I tell if cooking oil has gone bad? I am making my famous butter-milk fried chicken and would prefer not to go out and buy more oil however the oil I have has a slight odor. I have used it once and strained it. TIA

2. You really should use it only once. It doesn't keep well after that.
And if it smells...eww. Sorry. :D

3. I'd go buy some
nothing worse than rancid oil. If it smells bad your food will taste like that smell.
