Mine was "Electric Warrior" by T. Rex (with "Bang a Gong," "Jeepster," etc.)

5. No friggin' idea. I know that it was back in the 60's though. Now, I
do remember the album that I bought most. It was a cassette of Sly & The Family Stone's Greatest Hits. It was really long, so they used a thinner tape, and it kept breaking.

Leto has a great voice and actually refuses to use his celebrity to give the band publicity. I actually had no idea he was in the band when I first got into them. And I wasn't very familiar with him at that point anyway.

However, the very first album I got -- as a gift from my mom -- was "Between the Buttons" by The Rolling Stones. I still have both of them, along with many other albums (yes albums, not CD's), but unfortunately I don't have a working turntable any more so I need to get one.

33. "Document" - REM
When the album was still relatively new, a good friend of mine popped a mix tape (man I miss those) into the player and I heard REM for the first time. The dub, it turned out later, was from Fables of the Reconstruction, but I bought Document since it was the only REM the record store had. Cassette tape, of course :)

I actually came across the tape while going through some old boxes about two years ago, popped it into a cassette player, and realized WHY we all moved to CD's years ago. The tape was so distorted it sounded like Micheal Stipe was doing a humpback imitation.

37. Jimi Hendrix: Axis: Bold As Love.
I still remember it.

Anger, he smiles,
towering in shiny metallic purple armour
Queen Jealousy, envy waits behind him
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground

Blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted,
They quietly understand
Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready,
But wonder why the fight is on...

The first album I owned was Bob Dylan's "Bringing It All Back Home." My father gave it to me. He said, "Here, some hippy where I work gave me this album to listen to. I don't want to listen to it, so you take it..."

You had to know my father. He was something else.

71. My sister was nuts over Bobby Sherman. He is a sheriff in San Bernardino
From Wikipedia:
In 1972, his first son was born, with another son following in 1974. It was at this time that Sherman focused more on his personal life, and he eventually left the public spotlight. Of particular note is his work and involvement with the Los Angeles Police Department, focusing on paramedic, CPR, and first aid classes. He is also a full-fledged San Bernardino County Sheriff. Bobby built a one-fifth scale model of Disneyland's Main Street, made entirely by hand in his yard at home.

Hey Rev!

You rock, you rule, you resonate, and by god you buy good albums, too.

A thousand blessings your way, good person.

An aside: I think the man on the film version of SUPERSTAR who sings Pilate's haunting solo, "I dreamed I saw a Galilean..." -- is one of the dozen or so finest vocal performances by a human being, not to mention the sad beauty of the lyrics.

"Four Seasons of Love"

For some reason, this extremely critical memory has faded and I can't remember which of those three was ACTUALLY first, but those were definitely the first three.

The first single I ever bought was "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron" by The Royal Guardsmen.

120. I assume you mean the 1973 album and not the 1964 "Concert"

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:cx8m967o3ep8

Review by Lindsay Planer
Although somewhat unimaginatively titled, Beach Boys in Concert (1973) is significantly more than a hastily compiled live collection of hits. To the contrary, the set includes highlights from the band's earliest sides ("Surfer Girl") through to the groundbreaking Smile era ("Good Vibrations" and "Heroes and Villains") as well as more concurrent material ("Sail On Sailor" and "Marcella"). These are complemented by a generous representation of deeper cuts including "You Still Believe in Me" from Pet Sounds (1966), "Let the Wind Blow," which originally appeared on Wild Honey (1968), as well as later tracks "Leaving This Town" and "Funky Pretty." The song "We Got Love" was recorded and penciled in for inclusion on Holland (1973). However as the final product suggests, this laid-back rocker didn't make that release and instead makes its debut here. This incarnation of the "touring" Beach Boys captured circa 1972 and 1973 does not include contributions from founding member and spiritual leader Brian Wilson. By this time the band's personnel had expanded, featuring Blondie Chaplin (guitar/vocals) and Ricky Fataar (drums). Carl Wilson (guitar/vocals) stumbled upon the pair during their tenure in the band Flame, eventually procuring them for this harder-edged version of the group which Carl had begun molding in the absence of brother Brian. He also steps in vocally for Brian on standout renditions of "Caroline No," "Good Vibrations," and a co-lead vocal with Al Jardine (guitar/vocals) on an absolutely breathtaking "Don't Worry Baby" that easily rivals the original. Other notable performances include a poignant reading of "The Trader" as well as the upbeat driving rocker "Darlin'." Although present, Dennis Wilson (electric piano/backing vocals) offers no solo. Sadly, his most notable contribution is the brief spoken introduction to "Surfin' USA." Beach Boys in Concert was the final live album to be issued — excluding archival vault releases — capturing the seminal American combo as a viable, hard-working rock & roll band with timeless material instead of the parody that Mike Love so perfectly embodied during their final years. This is the way the Beach Boys deserve to be remembered.

123. "Beach Boys Concert"
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:2q2tk6gx9krw

Review by Richie Unterberger
Recorded live in Sacramento in 1964, the Beach Boys run through several of their big early hits and a bunch of covers that hadn't made it to record. The screaming, while not at a Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl level, is loud enough to present a real problem as far as sonic clarity, especially given that the instruments aren't recorded too well either. Even more crucially, the Beach Boys simply didn't play nearly as well on-stage as on record, at least at this concert; the arrangements are thin and the playing and singing are ragged, though the group is enthusiastic. None of this stopped it from becoming one of their biggest sellers; in fact, it topped the charts for four weeks, at the height of the British Invasion. It's also of interest in that it has several covers that they didn't release as studio recordings in the '60s, including "Johnny B. Goode," Jan & Dean's "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena," the dorky "Long Tall Texan," "Monster Mash," the Four Freshmen's "Graduation Day," and the Rivingtons' goofy doo wop rave-up "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow." Everyone other than major Beach Boys fans, however, should give it a miss.

I used to lay in bed (at 3!) at night spinning In A Gadda Da Vida...no wonder I'm strange LOL! :D I'd ask my mom what those shrieky noises and wah-wah sounds were...she said "it's an electric guitar, your uncle plays one". Not my first album but it was my first 8 track tape.

I had a '71 Triump TR6 that had an 8 track player in the dash right in front of the stick shift.

Shifting into 3rd gear pushed the tape right in.

As I recall Tubular bells was the sound track for some movie....
